Ok so basically long story short I'm starting a 2 plant grow under a 250 watt hps for flowering and I want to use 2(actual) 45 watt cfls for veg per plant. The dimensions of my grow tent are 2ftx3ftx5ft .The plants are a custom strain that a grower I know made but its indica dominant so basically I want to veg the plants 18 inches tall in veg and then flip them into flower with my hps. Also I'm doing the first couple weeks in 1 gallon bucket but the rest of the grow is going to be in 3 gallon buckets because I want a good root ball. Will the 2 45 watt cfls work for vegging the plants 18 inches tall? If not what should I do? Sorry if i'm not being specific enough, any question or tips would be appreciated/answered.

I use a 125W cfl and a 100W T5 panel to veg my plants. Personally I would recommend you check out the 125w cfl grow lights on amazon they go for about $40 and you will not regret it!

I would consider growing 2L hempys. .. Check out the WOH thread if unsure. ... Might be able to do a 10 plant SOG in that space. ..Also, if you want dense fat nug you'll be wanting HID lighting. I would go with a dimmable digital ballast.

Yes. Two 45w(actual watt) cfls will be enough for veg. Anything larger than 20" or plants in larger pots i would suggest more light.

Yes but it will veg too slow , get a small mh.
I think cfls are lame to be honest. I always tell my grow friends who use cfls to invest in hid lights if they don't want crappy weed. Once I have the money for a 150 watt mh I'm going to make a small veg cab big enough to veg 2 or 3 plants. I accidently bought a standard 250 watt mh light(rather than mh conversion for veg) and my ballast is hps only and I cant afford the conversion bulb. I have about 15 dollars to build a veg light basically with my current budget. its why I'm using 4 45 watt cfls.

I don't know if you missed it but in your OP you said said you were using a 250w hps for flower. Using cfl's and t5 lights for vegging does not in any way effect the quality of smoke. I don't know where you heard that but I would not take any further advice from that source if I were you.
