True, the plugs provided are usually 120 style but are on 300+v whips/cords. Not so much i noticed on cheap leds. You are right though Shitty ones come with skinny lil 120 cords.
The Auto-Pilot takes either plug type & Never had an issue.
Some Leds & HPS ballast come with x2 sets of cords so one can use the proper plug.

Yeah, let’s just say blurple lights don’t use mean well drivers. The SF series spider farmer lights do though

Honestly, if you're going to go all out, I recommend watching a youtube video and doing it yourself. You'll save some money and you'll know a lot about lights after and its' really not that hard.

I'm ok with building the lights from a kit if it offers noticeable savings on the cost of the lights.

I have a 9 x 9 x 9 grow space I'm running 13 autocobs @60 watts each and getting AWESOME RESULTS

On my current grow im using a blurple light. So far its been working really well. My profile pic is from this grow. I am comparing my results with another current grow with white LED LIGHT system. Here is a link to both grows.

Watched a YT review on the Spider Farmer QB. It appears practical/functional. Push come to shove...it would work. Though...consider HLG site(https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/collections/kits) to DIY a decent grow light. If spending the $$$...consider all options. A lil time n patience...one can put together a decent grow light. Myself, I use DIY Cree CXB3590 COBs setup. Pucks n QBs became popular/affordable shortly after COBs became the rage. But all(COBs, Pucks, QBs), IMO, out-perform any bulb. Not to mention the $$$ savings in HVAC, elec., etc. But...I ramble. Cheers

As far as COB (or board/strip) spectrum, there are slight variations between one brand and another in the same kelvin and there are also different CRI ratings which changes the spectrum also.

Some examples of strips that I know can be run on aluminium angle are Bridgelux EB gen 2 and gen 3 and cutter.au 's cree j series strips.
All 3 are pretty cost effective.
When you start looking at F series Samsung or strips with higher diode count they tend to be expensive and need heat sinks, or at least the cost drives people to run less strips harder rather than many soft.

Various boards can be run without heat sink or with basic aluminium plate , such as solskin, quantum boards, and a lot of knock off versions.
The original v1 quantum boards can be picked up for $29 a board currently. Not sure if that's the permanent price or just a sale.

COBs are still awesome if you can get the pin heat sinks cheap enough.

I would have a look at LEDgardeners strip build guide and get an idea what is popular and the lm/w you can get from various strips, then check out the data sheets.

If heat is such an issue you could even modify air cooled hoods to air cool the lighting and keep less heat in the room. Like by replacing the glass with an aluminium plate and mounting strips/cobs/boards to that.
You have to take into account we typically run at higher room temps than HID lighting anyway, like 80s.

The standard for all stages of growth is 3500k.

I hear they are pretty good, but I don't own any personally.
But like the cree j series from cutter they have a 90cri option which is a bonus.

diyleduk sells heat sinks, though they may be better suited to Samsung strips.

You would be better running more EB gen 3 or cree J series on aluminium U profile.
You can get that cheap from aluminium warehouse in UK.

If you run more strips you will power them softer and wont need expensive heat sinks.
With the price of EBs or cree J series its worth doing.
Maybe look at @diggs99 build.

I like the cutter.au J series because they are 48v and I think you can run them at 50w on just U profile but the negative is they are from Aus , they used to have a great price break for quantity, they don't seem to have that anymore but it might be worth asking mark. Depends on how big of a light your building.
