new grower cloning questions

I am finishing my first grows veg cycle and took some clones for next time.
I am using peat pellets. I cut a 45 angle with some scarification and dipped in clonex its been 15 days give or take a day. One of them was looking pretty sad so I pulled it up (only expected to have a 50% sucsess rate to keep hopes down) and saw zero sign of roots even begginimg to form. In fact the stem was drying out. Even though they are in a humidity dome at 70-80% humidity and a temp between 70 and 85.
should I pull up the rest and recut them and try another technique?
should I leave them for a couple more weeks and let them fly or die?
I'm concerned because I don't want to go buy a bunch more for my next grow I don't have much money and have already invested to much.
thank you all for your advice.

and when they were put into the peat it was pretty wet.
I also wet them down when they start looking to dry. But mainly focus on feeding through spraying the dome.

Switch to Root Riot cubes. Use pHed clonex or the "equal of" starter nutrient mixed water in the tray.

Don't know if it matters much but when I would cut for clones I always cut just below a set of nodes, removing leaves, dipped in rooting powder and stuck in rockwool stater cubes, then placed in my dome with a propagation matte set at 75 to 80 deg. under a 1" bed of pea gravel soaked in water, believe it or not I had 90-100% results, no need to spray just kept the pea gravel moist, this kept high humidity inside the dome.

I like that. I'm just at a loss at what to do with these clones.

Unfortunately it may be best to start again, or patiently wait, you may be fortunate.

I went to the hydro store and they gave me a foliage spray and some powder that I'm suposed to sprinkle on top of the pellet then add water. They said to then cover for a few days and my plants should pirk up and seach for water as the peat drys.

I was having no success either untilI got rapid rooter plugs . Also when I was doing 24h light they would just stay green this time I would give 4 hours dark period every couple days and I went from 0% to 100% success I dont know if it was the rapid rooters or the short dark periods. Another thing I read was to try to water plugs from bottom not soaking them this way it forces the roots to search for water

if my new set up does not work I am going to get rapid rooters or coco coir. But I am confident that these people at the store did me right. I also give a small dark period. I think all plants need a little rest.
I'll keep this thread updated to help people in the future with similar issues but I'm steady on my decision. Thank you folks.

The biggest problem i see people including myself having is not starting with nice cuttings.
I stopped cutting the leaves in half.
I stopped starting runty pathetic little cuttings.

I cut from a healthy large plant.

Dip in any rooting compound i grab.

Stuff it in the bubble closer.

Raise the light well above normal.

Spray the clone once,
Maybe twice the first day then no more.

When roots start to appear a mix a small batch of super weak nutes and pour a couple glugs into the cloner out of the jug.

When the roots are many and a few inches long I shove them in soil.

Bleach n rinse the shit out of said cloner,
Repeat
bobs yer uncle n shit.

No more ever.
Wow. I did my first solo clone on Friday. Now on day 4 they are looking quite happy but its early. I have mine in solos with a solo cup dome and I have been giving the dome a spray a couple times a day when I see the water or cloudiness in dome disappear. I have them on a heating pad as well as in a semi-enclosed closet-like compartment. To be honest, I am the old you...cut back leaves, small cuttings. They are in ProMix soil and I used Rootone powder at start...cutting at desired angle and gently scraping bottom 3/8". So, bottom line you are telling me to quit the spritzing.??

Im using a bubble cloner so they get plenty moisture.

I do recomend not using the dome any longer than you need.
Ahhhh, above I read "bubble closer" and with your English accent (bobs yer uncle) I thought you might have been referencing a "dome". Ha. Thanks for the clarity.

For me, an aero cloner is way easy & bout 100%.
Non PH'd tap water
2 wks
roots
No clone solutions, gels, powders, timers, domes,misting....
( i do use 2ml pro tect & kln, but tap works just as well )
plug in & leave alone for a couple of weeks

I use a cheap aero cloner, $70 us:

just my two cents. I went from 100% fail rate on rookwool cubes to 100% success rate with rapid rooter plugs. Take lots of clones...as many as you can. If you want 10 take 30 lol
