i am new to this site as well as new to growing. but i started 20 plants in a jiffy pod greenhouse thing (5 bucks at walmart pretty cool) i have transplanted 9 of them so far into separate pots i started transplanting whens the roots were starting to come out of the pod
like i said im new to this so i was going to test a few diff ferts in 3 pots i put sardines in the bottom and added dirt 3 of them got goat manure and 3 are just potting soil they all 3 have the same soil same water etc. well the ones that had sardines are now oily im assuming due to the high content of oil in sardines the goat ones are doing good as well as the natural ones but they are all slightly yellow large leaves yellow which according to what i have read is a nitrate defficiency and possibly a magnesium defficiency well i have 2 kinds of miracle grow one is 18% nitrate and the other is 24% neither the one that has 18 has a very small amount of magnesium .5% so should i use either of these or a combo or what i have been using the 18% one daily watering using the specified amount. i keep my soil moist all the time it is never dry.

any advice here on what i should stop doing or start doing would be appreciated

additionally they are outside 24 hrs a day getting a good amount of sunlight i plan to transplant these outside once they are larger
to let them grow in the "wild"

the ones that i have yet to put into separate pots are doing fine i have snipped back the leaves and snipped the upcoming leaves also i was told this will produce a much shorter but bushy plant seemily is working thus far

Sounds like you have a fun project ahead of you. I would just stick with the starting soil for a month and then start to use fertilizers and nutes. In the 1st month, the plants don't really need much except for a growing medium. After the 1st month then fertilize away, but don't start off too strong. Good luck!

YUMMM goat manure. Sounds good lol. It looks like that is working best for you. If you think it is helping the plants then stick with it!! You have some fun ahead of you transplanting all of those plants into different containers and outside. Good luck man!

thanks well the goat manure is not as easy to get for me i have a bunch of horses so horse manure is very easy to get but i have not tried it yet

thinking of building a grow box and buying some big bud and k2 seeds from nirvana in addition to my outdoor endeavor but trying to figure out the height issues i have a great place to build one but its only 4 ft tall not sure if that would be tall enough

i have to make 2 corrections i have 22 plants actually and im not sure why but one of the ones that had sardines i forgot to mark and is actually one of the better looking plants so maybe sardines are not that bad of an idea?? 1 out of 3 coming out good i just discovered this after doing some reading on here and realizing my soil was too basic so i took all the little pods out of the soil put all the soil in a big container with some horse shit and mixed it thouroughly then replaced the pods (the little mesh thing that holds the pods dirt together shoudl remain right? will it hinder growth?
