Well, first wash your hands and get ready to either transplant it or trim the roots so it can breath. If you transplant it into a bigger container then teas the roots and make a few slices on the sides to break up the part that is bound to the pot.
Your plant is probably very healthy right now and can take getting it's roots trimmed. What it's doing is pushing out the soil and creating a risk for the roots to dry out. The plant might also start using up all it's nutrients faster then you can replace them.
If you can't transplant to a larger container, then read up on maintain a bonzi tree. You should be able to find a few guides that give you step by step instructions on how to trim the roots. And really it's not hard, just get a clean razor blade and trim the outside and avoid touching the taproot (center root)
