Hello all! I’ve just built a 6’x7’x 8’ tall grow space. I have 2- 1000 watt how lights in there with air cooled hoods.
Do you think 2- 1000watt lights is too much for that space for flowering? (They are dimmable ballasts so they will be dimmed down to veg in the same space)
Heat won’t be an issue because I will have both hoods vented out of the room with one 6” inline fan and another 6” inline fan exhausting air through a carbon filter. Along with a 4” inline fan bringing fresh air into the room.

The 4" intake fan is not going to cut it. I'm assuming your light cooling fan is pulling air from outside the room and exhausting outside as well so it's not picking up stink from the room or exhausting air from the room. You'll want a passive air intake at least twice the area of your exhaust so 2x28.3" = 56.5". A square hole that size covered with a furnace filter will keep dust and bugs from getting in. If it's a real fine filter then a larger intake hole would be better.

If your ballast has actual 400 and 600W settings then best to get bulbs that run at those wattages as dimming a 1000W bulb down will affect the spectrum and won't grow your plants as well.

Otherwise should be good to go.

Sorry that’s supposed to be 6” intake fan 390cfm.
Yes my light is going to be venting from outside through the lights then outside again. I could also use it to exhaust hot air from the room, along with another 6” fan because I have 2 carbon filters that I can use. Yes I will not be dimming the 1000watt bulb to 600, I have 400 and 600 watt bulbs that I can use in the lights also.

2000w/42sq ft= 47w/sq ft. This will get the there, and is fine for Veg, but its on the low end of HID wattage.

1000w in a 4x4 is quite common, for reference. 1000/16= 61w/sq ft.

If you can get to and handle 75w sq/ft in your space, you'll be looking great.

75w X 42sq ft= 3150w

Conclusion: add another 1000w to tent or in Flower

Wo

It would only be two lights, I will use one to veg with where I’m vegging in the same room with the same lights for now.
What sizes are you going to make the separate veg and grow spaces? 6x7' is a bit awkward to split up and you usually want your flower space to be about twice the size of the veg space. A square space is better than a rectangular space with HID lights on a fixed point.
