New grow room, 3.5 ft tall

Gunna be a bit of a squeeze at that height. I've found 4ft to be near on impossible unless you get the right strains. You'll need around 8-10" for pots, around 10-12" minimum for light clearance. Your looking at around 50cm left for plant.

Tbh, one plant, topping after the third or fourth and retraining horizontal would be a better bet than two plants.

This is one auto that vegged for four weeks in a 3x2x5.5. it has been trained out, topped twice and tied down, and still had 9" left to the light in a 160cm tent by the time I was done..

ok so 1 plant each ( I can fit 3-4 tents just limited on height, and literally only have 44" to work with.) I understand a SOG will be neeeded. just seeing if this idea is even worth trying.

My flower room is 6 x 2 x 4ish. I've run 2, 3 and 4 pots in there but 3 seems to be the sweet spot for veg time. Averages about 26-28 Oz in a SCRoG under 2 x 400w hps with cool tubes. It's a bit of work training but is doable. I went with panda film to use every inch of space rather than a tent. Cheaper too. Once it's all stapled up and seams taped, I just get a box cutter to make an access door and stick velcro strips on it. If you want yield, you want watts. So you'll either need cool tubes with a decent fan or suitable LEDs (bars or strips). I've just upgraded to two of these as they can run as close as 6" to the canopy in flower with a decent spread of high PPFD. Plus I'm much less stressed about burning the house down if the fan goes. They have a variety of sizes for different spaces https://migrolight.com/products/migro-aray-3-270w

Your choice of medium will make a decent difference too. Pots sitting on the floor give the most headroom. I'm running RDWC so it works out to:

Pot height: 11.42 inches
Table height: 5.35 inches (just big enough for an elbow underneath for return to the res)
SCRoG height: 8 inches above the pots

Which leaves 2 feet to the ceiling. Getting buds a foot long or so above the SCRoG after full stretch is key for light clearance. So you really need to train them sideways all the way through stretch.

thank you for the info

I am currently thinking about using this for pots

I used to be heavily into reef aquariums so I understand the importance to watts and yield

this give me hope that i can grow in this room, and have decent yields.

Definitely want to upgrade the 2.2 Gallon pots in that system to the 3.9 Gallon ones. I use 4 gallon pots and they are root bound by the time they hit flower. Small space though so I don't want monsters. They are still good enough for 8-10 dry Ozs each though, which is fine. But definitely look into SCRoG, there really is no other way apart from some serious training in a space that tall.

I'm running a test in a 3 x 3 x 5 tent at the moment if you want any ideas. This strain (Nirvana Gelato) is really short and bushy but I've run big Sativa dominant strains in the SCRoG before. The Sativas were actually easier to train, provided you start early in veg.

If you can fit 3-4 tents though, definitely just build your own room with cheap timber and panda film. My plants are all overlapping through the SCRoG, can't do that with seperate mini tents. I'd only expect 3-4 Oz out of those tents if you've got it dialled in. Halve that if it's your first grow. Halve it again if it's your first height limited grow. One big space you can share lights, horizontal space and ventilation much cheaper and more effectively

I just went down a measured the area, if I was to build it into a room ( leaning to this idea ) the area I would use would be. 4ft front to back, and 9 feet side to side. but still only have 44in from celling to floor.

Exactly, it’s basically a tall 4x4 tent laying on its side. Which is fine if you’re growing sideways
