hey, just to butt my 2cents into this... I've really got nothing to say about ya grow setup bro, "To-Each-His-Own"... But I will say, CFL grow's are not bad... I've grown CFL's and even now with this grow now, I'm using CFL's & today is 4th week flower with astonishing results, and its all organic as well... So, as long as you know what you're doing there is really nothing wrong with it... "To-Each-His-Own"..... Keep it green... & Puff1ne.... pz

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but, I'm a seasoned ganja farmer, indoor and out. I just wanted to say.........

Danger Will Robinson!!!

Another 4 letter word that you should be concerned about with this little smoker is "Mold".

Don't mean to be rude, Dude. You should be able to find some better materials around the house, or, maybe a brisk walk around the block on garbage day.

Well... It's no secret that damp cardboard is a great medium for fungi. Ever see wet cardboard left in the basement for a few weeks? it's not pretty.

No matter what you do, your cardboard grow box is going to absorb moisture, increasing your chances of having mold or other bacteria in your grow.

A lot of growers I've met over the years, as well as myself, have wiped down they're grow area with a 5% bleach solution to kill bacteria and fungi before starting a project. Ever see cardboard after its been exposed to bleach, looks kinda like Swiss cheese.

Not saying it will happen for certain, there are a lot of things to take into consideration, cardboard DOES hold a lot of bacteria and such and it is a potential threat for mold!

Heres an idea.. Take a cfl, wrap it in cardboard so that the contact is made, and heat is trapped worse than a natural worst case scenario, turn it on and see if any charring occurs in the long term.. Or put some of that particular corrugated cardboard in the oven and see how it fares.. My bet is that the ballast of the cfl will go brown then die.. The autoignition temperature of cardboard is probably almost 400°C (700F).. Shoddy electrical work on the otherhand, is FAR more dangerous around cardboard, but shouldn't be tolerated anyway..

well. id agree. but let me ask you something. why do you think it wont, because that light isnt hot. Its not hot because its not powerful. Even if you add 10 more of them. They are all weak and so your grows will be also. I think this advice applies to new cfl growers in general. Do you want to spend 3 months of your time with this and only have like 1 joint. Were trying to save you years literally that we spent learning this.

At a minimum you need a 400 MH. And I mean that for your 3 months time most of all. good luck

I totally stand by this.... I had my first grow going on flour's and some cfl's..... *shakes head* I had it growing for like 6 months.... I got a 1/4 oz off of it....

My second grow *still growing* is half the size... has taken like 2 months.... and I have way way WAY more bud on this plant then I did on the other one....... I'll post some pix... I still have some of the crap from the first grow layin around...... not only are there more bud... but it's THICK bud... I've got a 400 watt HPS growin my babies now....

Tell me if you can see which was done under the HPS and which was done under the CFL/Flouro's ;);)

cfl's and fluoro tubes are actually quite different beasts.. Cfl's are great for veg, and larger sizes are adequate to flower if kept very close unlike the tubes in your pic..
Not saying HPS or MH aren't far superior, I'm just taking issue with how bad they perform.. Good growers who unedrstand how to use them can probably get almost 0.5g/Watt..
