New grow and list of materials (with prices)

So I should be growing within the month for sure, once I get paid to be exact. I'm going to do a rubbermaid DIY CFL grow in a closet and this is my list of essentials with a price rundown:

rubbermaid tubs x2 - $16
mylar (wrapping paper (heard it works)) - dollar store
pots - dollar store
fans - $9 (maybe dollar store)
4" air diffuser (found at canadian tire) - $10
CLF's - $11 for 3 pack (around $30 worth)
extension chords - $8 (for 4)
timer - $9
power bar - $5
nutes: roots, veg, flower - $8 each ($24)
soil - promix $12
seeds - $50-80 (haven't decided yet)

TOTAL = $180-210

I think I'm splitting on it with someone else, all they want in return is a free OZ. SO stoked.

almost all ya need, but if you gonna use rubbermaid bins...... how are you planing to feed them? are you going to use it as a bubbler? if so you'll need an air pump and air stones. what ya gonna start them in, ya need to deside that to, and less you get fem seeds or clones then bank on half the plants being males....

They'll be in pots, in promix soil. And the nutes I have listed are what I'm going to use to feed them. There's a tub for root growth, one for vegetative stage, and one for flowering. I'm not getting fem seeds, but the seed bank that I'm going to guaranties that 7 of the 10 seeds you buy will be females and if they aren't, you can go back and get 10 more seeds for free.

Little help people, I'm paranoid I'll fuck up my grow so I want to be confident starting it out. C'monnnnnnn.

lol 3 CFLs for, what 10 plants ??

I used a 400 hps for 5 and even i think its not enoth juice pumping into the buds.

what you paranoid about anyways, they are just plants, germinate, stick in soil only feed after 2-3 weeks and ull be well away. its not rocket science.

i'd invest in a ph meter aswell... other then that it should work somewhat fine.. mabe a homemade carbon filter? there are plenty of diy ones

I said its $11 for a 3 pack but I wrote down $30 worth so I'm getting 9 bulbs, probably for 2-3 plants. I just want the grow to go well and have smokeable weed at the end. I have "Buds for Less" to follow as a guide so I guess I'm good.

Filter? For the water you mean? I thought leaving tap water out for a bit was alright, as long as you check the PH before hand and balance it out if you need to.

How big do you plan on growing these plants? You may need more CFL's. Also, is there any air flow going in/out of the closet? It may get humid/hot in there.

IThey'll probably be less than 3 feet tall. I'm going to top them too. Whatever height I can get out of them in 2 rubbermaids stacked. There's a gap at the bottom of the closet door that might help for airflow, I'm going to keep a fan on the outside of the box so that it will help push some air in, as well as put a little breeze on the stems. It's getting cold here anyway so if it's too hot I can crack the window and open the closet a little, they'll be in the box so that won't affect light in where they are.

What strain(s) are you thinkin' about?

Looking at G-13 because of the low smell, thats what the seed bank here says anyway. Or summertime buddha. They're toronto seed bank strains so I don't know much about them other than what they say. I wanted something crossed with white widow or haze or something but I think the smell might jyst be too much. G-13 is apparently just abused by beginners too lol so I'll probbaly give it a shot.

yea i ment a filter for the smell.. carbon filter.... plants get really smelly..

yeah im going to make a cheap one, and filter it into this hole i found in the wall anyway. should be alright, besides im the only one that lives there, incense will deal with any smell that gets out of the closet, might want to move my clothes though.

I just bought some bud from my dealer and found a few seeds in it, I'm going to germ them and see if anything happens, its something to mess around with in the mean time!

2 random bag seeds I though I would try to germ cracked today. I had to put them in normal potting soil with a regular lightbulb on them until tomorrow when I can pick up a CFL

you will be a lot happier with the results and it will cause you a lot less headaches if you get a real light. Maybe use the Cfls for veg but you will def. want a hps for flower. It will totally pay for itself and you wont have to deal with a crap ton of lights. Its up to you but maybe get a 150 or 250 watt. preferably a 400 watt but that may be too much for you first grow if you want to just keep it really simple.

Its just for personal smoke, and I already have all my shit planned, I just need to buy stuff. Thanks for the help though.

I put one bulb over the 2 seeds that germed and are now in soil. The bulb is in a cone shaped cover as for a reptile cage. I'm going to put a 26watt or more in it. I'm going work on getting my rubbermaid tubs a.s.a.p and get the plants in there with the light. It's pretty hot in there already but I think it's because of the light cover, its metal so its heating up along with the bulb. Actually now that I think about it, I hope nothing happens to start a fire because I have no smoke alarm.

I guess the grow has officially started!

Day 2
Watered a tablespoon or so.
First set of serrated leaves are visible but have not yet grown out.
Plant is about 2-3 inches tall (stretched?) The light was kind of far away but now its sitting right above. There's about 1-2 inches from the dirt to the top of the pot so the light cover is sitting on the edge of the pot.

Edit: Need to get a splitter and some higher watt CFL's, thermometer.
