Day 10

Made some progress, got some mylar (crappy job putting it up had shitty tape) and noticed that my thai and one of my AUH#1 are really droopy and stretchy and can't support the leaves.

the AUH#1 can be salvaged, but this thai is pretty much screwed I think. :wall:

Anyone know the cause of this? I moved the lights closer 2 days ago and started watering whenever the soil seemed like it needed.

I try to keep watering down to once a day, a real good soak to each plant and that's it.

Temperature is 78ish and humidity is 35%.

Should I put the fan on the seedlings MORE so they create stronger stems?

See the AUH#1 (ma nigga)? I had to put more soil around the stem to support it.

You think the light is TOO close now? It doesn't burn my hand when I put it between the AUH#1 and the rest seem to be doing fine. Lemme know your thoughts brahs, thanks.

Light is 400W MH and it's about 8-9 inches away from the tops of the seedlings. I think that's a little TOO close for comfort, so I moved it to a foot (12").
PIC BUMP

Would anyone know why they're stretching this badly? I have the light as close as physically possible, without burning. Possibly cause I started with a MH? I don't know maybe I'm overreacting and they're just starting up.

Seeing people like WW though get humongous plants in like 5 days is kind of frustrating.. maybe the pH has something to do with it?

Also, the soil gets pretty dry under the light.
Temperature: 78-80F degrees, with 35% humidity. Is feeding it once a day too much for seedlings, or should I just go by the pinky-finger-in-the-soil deal?

they streched cuz of lack of light but if u bury the tems and have lowerd the light they should be fine and good to grow. I thought u had sorted that mate sorry ;)

nah it's cool, I had but it just boggled my mind that they weren't very far away to begin with.

One other question I've been wondering though, I'm not quite sure how to ratio my nutes. I'm using Fox Farm organic nutes and I have a 32 Fl. Oz. (1 liter) Water sprayer.

1 gallon =3.785 liters

Now if I were to apply 1 teaspoon of nutes for every gallon, and instead used my 1 liter sprayer, could I just put 1/4th of a teaspoon and spray all my plants? What's the best way to apply nutrients? 1 gallon + teaspoon to every plant?

I know it's best to start off with a weaker solution and always dose lower than higher, but I'm not sure on how to apply it to the plants.

This is my first time using nutes at all, so any help is appreciated. Thanks again. :blsmoke:

Add your nutes to the water you feed them with. Don't just mist it on them.
Ok cool, then just reapply a teaspoon to every gallon that I would use for each plant?

I think I've got a basic understanding now, sorry for all the questions too, just trying to safe and correct any mistakes I have, preventing future mishaps. Thanks again guys, plants are looking better, I'll post pics in the next couple days.

yea as mr west said, theres no need for nutes...1 ft should be fine though with the light.the 1's that are bent look like theyve been reaching for the light. Is there an even spread of light across all the pots? coz im wondering if the outer pots aren't getting enough...good job though :)

blah that sounded gobbledeygook....ok is your reflector spreading the light evenly across all pots?....im not sure it will at a foot with all those pots mate...this is what i meant :)

I use a 125w VEG LAMP but Im not vegging 20 odd plants, with this lamp I can sit it right in the face's of the plants with out heat stress, stops them streching, and makes them grow big lush green leaves.:leaf: With your M.H. you will have to find a happy distance, I found a M.H. too much heat & light intensity for young seedlings.

As for watering, I water till I get a small amount of run off when light first comes on, then I leave untill medium is almost compleatly dry before watering again, 30% using a moisture meter for water 40% before feeding.
Whether Im watering or feeding I let it run out of pot, and always add little by little and let it soak in, dont just tip in loads at once.

As for when to feed are you using medium.
This has organic feed already in the soil so you dont feed in veg, just pot up soil will feed plant for 4 weeks.

defantly don't foliar feed with your normal nutes, mix your nutes in to gallons of water and water it that way. if you want to spray the leaves get a specific foliar feed fertilizer. good luck on your grow

Yea I believe it was just the start of the seedlings, I was only working with 2 26w CFLs, now I got a 400w MH. I think I'll be fine now, they've even out a big. :hump:

I'll take pics in the next day or so.

That's true :bigjoint:

Yea I'm using Ocean Forest, I didn't know that. I'll prob start using nutes around the 1st. :)

The watering thing I was a little iffy about, I always wonder if I'm watering seedlings correctly.

Johnny: Noiiiice aite aite, yea I'll avoid foliage feeding. I'll keep checking up on your grow man, I'm sorry haven't checked on it recently.

MAc: Aite man thanks, I'll make a note not to do it ever.

Appreciate all the help so far guys, hope you guys stay tuned for more, now I'm just fine tuning the process and letting my babies grooooowww. :hump: :blsmoke: :hump:

PS: I think I overwatered the past few days so I'm going to give them a break tomorrow from water and just mist the foliage if needed. I noticed slight droopiness in some and a little yellowing, which looks kind of like pollen.

Let me put your worries to rest haha. What you are growing is a...well...a weed :weed: They are very forgiving and can survive quite a bit. As long as you avoid over watering the fuck out of them you should be fine. Are you going straight into the ground come spring time or are you putting them in some sort of container/growbag/etc.? Looking pretty good so far. I'm probably going to start my journal soon...perhaps I'll make it a video journal with the extra time on my hands. :)
