Hello everyone i found the right section... Finally cfls has a place not to be hated on. Anyway i would really like to try this cfls i have seen. It is a 200w cfl putting out a whapping 15000 lumens. I want a red and a blue and use a big stainless popcorn bowls or buy reflectors for them. I wanna know if they are as good as they are, and if they are anyone know the cheapest place to get them? 70 bucks i think is best i found.
Lil help here would be awesome.

I'm not "hating"on CFL's, I have four in my room right now. They have their place. But $70 forjust a CFL bulb? Seriously, look into an HID for that cost.

Here is a 250 watt HPS/MH kit at Amazon for less than $110

If you must do a CFL, Amazon has this one for under $65

I would recommend several smaller bulbs than one large bulb - much better light dispersal. You can often find the 23w bulbs on sale for $0.25. I had great results pairing small 23w bulbs and medium 68w bulbs -

I was pulling an oz a week with 388w of CFL - First CFL Grow - Help appreciated

I would recommend a 3:1 of 6500K:2700K for veg and the opposite for flower.

Keep them small! CFLs don't do nearly as well with large plants unless you keep a clean scrog or LST. I started flowering at this size -

Dropping bulb between plants maximizes plant absorption without the loss of restrike like you would have with a reflector. I tried to cover the canopy in smaller bulbs and submerge larger bulbs between plants.

I would yield ~ 1oz per plant. With 6 in full flower at a time and two others just rotating into the flower box I was able to harvest a plant per week.

This took place in a 2x3x3.5' area of a small closet.

i have a couple of them the 2700 and the 6400 they work ok .. but they do give off a fair amount of heat too .. you have to be aware of that when you plan your growroom dont know about the reflector your plannin .. might work but man it will get hot SS transfers a heat .. just a thought

Ok. Yea i know hey are gonna get warm, hot even i have a bunch of smaller small cfls i am using right now. I have used them before. I grew one big one and a few small ones three grows all went well. But i am hoping the big ones added to my little closet will make things big fast and get morenoutbofbit. Maybe even grow them bigger easier. I use fans to cool the lights, more the built in blast that gets hot. Easier to cool one light than twenty i thought. I guess it doesn't much matter. Prob try them out. If the bowl doesn't get hot though it will make the fan air swirl around the bulb base and cool hopefully. Heat is my issue with hid. And i don't like that. I read somewhere the glass on a hps 1000w gets upwards of 1700 degrees..true?
