NEW BOX for all those who ripped on me before..

This one is made from an 18 rack of Miller Highlife, still has the tin foil until i can get the mylar, and changed the pc intake fan to an exhaust fan. How does this one look on space? do you guys think i could get a good specimen grown in this one?

not with the tin foil but you could get a very small plant in there.

At lowes they sell boxes ranging from that size to the size of a fridge for like $.75, you need something bigger. Seriously. But mad props if you make it fit.

like above said, a very small plant indeed. You can also go to a Uhaul or ryder and buy various sized packing boxes cheap too.

it reflects light and heat...but you are only using a CFL...its fine

Anything will work, my vegging plants are just out in the open, I did get a tent for my flowering plants cuz it's hard to keep open space light proof...Anyway it was only like $75 and it's 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide, but only like 2 feet deep...it's kinda like a small hallway...would like one that is square, but that was the cheap one...it costs some money to do this properly, It doesn't take much, but to get something you aren't embarassed of there is some upfront cost...it is totally worth it though to have everything doing what you want and having things how you want them...See I started out thinking I didn't need this or that...or I could use this or that, and then I realized I was just throwing the money away in the first place...You can make anything into a grow box...Holy hell in my areas craigslist somebody sells really nice 4'x4'x3' aquaponics setups with the fish included...for a good price considering the way that all works. Seems like a serious time and money saver long term, although kinda pricey in the beginning, but you get a garden and a pet...2 for 1

Unless you have a high powered light I would say the tinfoil isn't too big of a deal, but instead of reflecting light tinfoil refracts light So it doesn't really help a whole lot...taping white paper on the inside might even be better...tinfoil bends the light in a bunch of different directions...usually you would want something glossy and white...but it might just work, or the sticky paper for the inside of cabinets...whatever it is... anyway you can put a small plant in there, but you will have no way to keep this thing going and have anything to smoke in between...that is all I work for...no weedless dead space--I don't like having to deal with criminals to get my MJ...

but this is my first grow! this is going to be like my "lets see if it even works" grow lol
but Missnu, I was curious, how many plants do you actually grow at a time?

And i think in the future after i grow a couple of plants in this, (maybe make a couple of bucks with the yield, heh heh) ill buy something a little bigger, and maybe research some homemade Hydroponics. I hear that set-up is pretty fool-proof.

You need to squeeze another 3 bulbs in there minimum! Also you would never be able to grow more then one at a time and I wouldn't imagine you be able to grow another to make a few bucks. Gonna yield a few grams my friend. I got a 400w HPS and dont really produce enough yet to sell lol.

Im not hating on you man everyone starts somewhere just don't want you to get your hopes up and be dissapointed with the results.

Foil is not a very good reflective material. I think you would be better of with a larger more sturdy box like a U-Haul Wardrobe box, with a flat white painted interior. Or of course mylar. I suggested the paint because a lot of folks have some white paint hangin around somewhere and I know you are on a limited budget.

Being that aluminum foil is inanimate I'd say the chance of it growing are not very good. But the plants should grow ok. LOL! Sorry I could not resist.

dude eriously, invest in a 250w hps, find a wardrobe and use tht shit coz ya aint gonnae yield anything to make it worth the time of vegging then flowering under 1 cfl. your kidding yourself on if you think you are gonna make any money off it lol. not tryna be rude but when you read your last box was too small what in the hell made ya make another box slightly bigger?

Its a super budget ghetto stylee box.. There's a saying that goes 'You only get out - what you put in' and that stands true with most things, on the positive side ur already aware 'Tin-foil' is a no no...so I am surprised you bothered with it. However, despite the slightly bigger box, That CFL fixture is huge ~ (for a single low-Watt CFL)!! ..and so I'd expect a Micro sized dwarf plant is how it'll go. You could put a small SCROG screen in there which will allow you to obtain a fair bit of extra 'Bud' gain, But I'd wanna sort out Mylar/Orca for the reflective surfacing 1st, then I'd replace that shoddy CFL setup you have in exchange for a single ENVIROLITE 125W CFL which will not only save you space, (if hung horizontally) But also give a much better PAR/Usable light output, & also not give off as much heat as say a small HID setup ie: 35W, 70W 150W ... I think a 250W Son-T HPS would be overkill for the box you have .. I take it your fine with smell etc.. only I dont see a Carbon Filter?!! and even if there was one I am pretty sure the smell would still leak out!

Still its your grow and I am interested to see this Ghetto-Grow get on the way.. Please keep adding pics I hope my helpful criticism was helpful as intended and you didn't/don't feel I was rippin on you.. Its funny though, loads of people start out like this or in a very similar way (inc me) and slowly after each Harvest improvements are made and slowly the small box turns into a good sized Grow-Room or Cab.. dude that is way too small, my 5 week old lowryders are 16" and 27" plus cardboard aint a very good mix with water/heat/electricity, i agree with stonemalone convert a wardrobe or chest of draws paint the inside white and stick a small hps in otherwise you will end up wasting the next month and when she outgrows the box she'll have nowhere to go. hope this helps
