My best advice to the OP is to upgrade to COB LED as soon as you can afford it. That lamp will start to let you down in about 6 months due to normal deterioration.

MH bulbs do have a short life but CMH bulbs are rated for 20,000 hours.like any grow light there are positive and negative aspects to C.O.Bs.

What driver is it? Knowing the specs would help. Also, you should probably consider running 16 gauge to and from the fixture and just using the 18 between COBs.

Heh, you might've noted my earlier comment about "2am and stupidness". I measured everything with a micrometer, and it looks like the driver is operating outside the norms. 202V and 1.35-1.4mA. Actually too hot for the driver rating.I'm going to see about returning it and getting a new one.

The only negative I've found is up front cost. After that, it's all about lower power bills and better production in every way.

... And that price premium is shrinking every day.
 
I am not an LED grower but I do test grows with LEDs. it is the only way to filter the truth from all the hype. my current test is using bridgelux EB strip lights but I have tried COBs and multiband LEDs as well.potency and taste did not compare to T5s or CMH in my test grows.high end LED grow light makers like platinum, black dog and others do not use COBs and claim that plants can only use 40% of the light produced by white LEDs and that COBs lack penetration compare to 5 watt LED panels and they provide independent university studies to back up these claims. with so much contradictory information and so many false claims the only way to find the truth is to conduct your own test grows.up here CMH are very popular with large scale commercial growers. my state just legalized recreational use but the cost of becoming a licensed commercial grower is very high and the number of licenses is limited so we only have large scale growers and I assume they do extensive research before choosing lights.

Day 50 and my white widow auto is looking frosty. Never seen this before except in pictures. Figures I broke my loupe first time I need it.

Heres a link to why i bought this line, proven to be a good one, alot of side by sides from homebrewer and a few others on this site, but what really got me was the interview with dynagro owner on dudegrows show, alot of information in this interview i highly suggest everyone listen to this one, too many snake oil peddlers out there trying to tell you you need something you really dont with a 15 bottle lineup, listen carefully to the part about bloom boosters and how high P formulas (bloom boosters) arent needed, skip to around 10 minutes in and you get alot of info about nutrient uptake in cannabis, phosphorus is near last on the macro element % in the plant and just above sulfur, so why use high P formulas??? the plant cant even use that much according to this interview and isnt needed, the owner says the only reason they even made a bloom booster was because people request it because they "think" they need it, is this misinformation, anyone got any info on this? Very interesting interview

This is weird, because I've seen growers with zero stake in selling things have a substantial grow difference in tests with mammoth P. But I know Dude Grows is pretty damn reputable. Watching!

I get it man, i wasn't crapping on them at all, just stating what they have on the bottle, never used it i don't know anything about mammoth p, but for 80-90 dollars a bottle for mostly...water, idk man, thats what the "lol" was for, not for the product, stuff could be amazing! They also give out free samples, might be worth trying out!

Mammoth P is a micro organism complex designed to help plants uptake phosphorus more efficiently. It was developed right here in Ft Collins CO, my home town! The microbes are in solution...

And haven't you noticed that all those water bottle nutrient lines (Dyna Grow definitely included) are also MOSTLY WATER as well? But you still buy them, don't you? Not me; I use dry nutrient salts and they're just as effective- at 5% of the cost, or even less.

Hello, so I am a fellow masshole, as well that is fairly new here and just recently started a grow of my own. I haven't smoked in over 30 years but with part of my basement converted over as a grow room to start hot peppers and vegetables, I thought I would take advantage of our new law.
I just picked up on this thread today and started to read through it, thought it would be interesting to network with other Massachusetts Growers, I am located out in the lovely Berkshires where they seem to shoot down everything the general population wants.
 
Hi naiveCon ... welcome to the thread. Good people and good info found here :) My dry spell's a bit longer than yours ... haven't smoked since the early '70s ... but that will be changing in the very near future. You may be our most western neighbor so far ... several in central MA but if the Worcester area's not too much of a haul for you I'll let you know when we're planning something. I'm Essex country / Merrimack valley myself.
