Never got answered

I have a question that I am unsure about the answer. I have read, searched, and posted but I'm sill not sure of this answer.

The Question: If I run my 250 HPS and my 250 MH for flowering at about 12 inches away from bud tops in my 2x2 screen grow, will I get better results that if I just used my HPS for flower.

I know HPS is better for flowering cuz the spectrun, more red... and MH, blue for veg. But does it mean that while flowering, if I use the MH with HPS wil the leaves and branches start growing faster, causing more issues with blocking light on budsites?

One guys says that the double lumens will surely make a huge difference (I have no heat issues). I'd like an answer because I don't want to work against myself by making the buds fight the leaves.

Thanks

that guys was right, more lumens = more bud. Doesnt matter if its MH. Some people actually use a MH all the way through and swear by it. Hortilux even makes an awesome bulb that has 2 bulbs inside of it, one red, one blue, its crazy. Your all good using bothm that is if you want double the harvest!

Edit: the guy above me should check this out also! 1000w dual arc - YOU CAN MIX, and blue is supposed to create more resin in flowering also

The EYE SUPER BLUE lamp features the extraordinary power of Super HPS and the balanced spectrum of Hortilux Blue in one bulb! The benefits of Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium together: vigorous growth, accelerated development, and hearty flowering! The lamp’s unmatched energy spectrum provides the optimum light for plant growth through the entire growth cycle.

Hortilux Super Blue HPS/MH Lamp - Combining the growth-enhancing qualities of metal halide’s blue-spectrum light with the bloom-promoting power of high-pressure sodium’s red-orange light, this dual-arc lamp takes “two-way” to the next level by eliminating any need to switch it out. Boasting 110,000 lumens, this dual-purpose Hortilux Super Blue can be used in any standard 1000-watt HPS lighting system.

you will double the harvest with 2 good lights but i wouldnt risk mixing up the lights at the same time. but its an experiment test it out

i flower with a 400 hps and a 400mh. The results are fantastic. I used to just flower with a 400 hps my grow are way better now. Nice rock hard buds. i mean rocks! Lots of weight and oh so sticky :) Go with both lights man you will be glad you did. later

You obviously don't know what you're saying... having an extra 250w is ALWAYS better than not having it (unless you have extreme heat issues, which the OP has stated he does not)

Use both your lights!!

I agree....if you can deal with the heat and the cost of another lamp, then go for it :hump: It definately aint gonna hurt. :weed:

I actually do know what im saying, ive been growing for over 5 years and im not dumb enough to use 2 different lights in a cycle thats just unheard of and unnessary. i have plenty of great buds going right now in fact, like ww, shiva skunk, bubba cough, and purple g13 just to list a few

Your and idiot wraped in a moraon
ha ha ha ha ha pot calling kettle at least insanemj can spell, just cos you dont agree with someone elses views doesnt mean you have got to start calling names, that makes you an idiot and a moron.

insanemj unfortunately on this occasion your wrong mh can be used very well on its own or in combination with hps. the perfect ratio is 2 hps to 1 mh but 1 of each will work lovely and definitely a lot better than just the hps on its own. if its a switchable ballast tho i would consider using two mh bulbs through veg and two hps bulbs in flower.

:peace:

yeah I would also go with both lights. Maybe insanemj thought you were going to wire them both to the same ballast?

In theory. using both hps,mh would be making the enviroment alot more like the real sun spectrum. I don't see pll with outdoor ops filtering the suns light to alow just the red hps spectrum thru or just the blues mh.

yes the ability to spell is more important than understnading how to grow insanemj clearly said using mh and hps was bad that's bad advice but I guess you two don't care about the quality of info just that of spelling I guess idiots run in packs

No i knew what he was talkin bout i just wouldnt wanna try it because it puts out diffent lumens and everything and i understand that the more the better but im just not ganna do it with my crop cause id rather not risk it, and hes right there is no reason to call me names just because i dont want to test it for myself, but i never said it wouldnt work/ kill the plants therefore hes just being an asshole for no fuckin reason

not trying to be an asshole, but did u see what i posted? Hortilix makes an awsome bulb that has both spectrums...its not a test

yeah i know, i have some hortilix bulbs but they aren't that type, but i can understand where hes coming from wanting to test it out and everything. but id just rather stick to 1 type it helps promote growth faster in my opinion

Testing appears to be conclusive, we are all idiots and morons sooner or later... lol Did I just say that??? Damn, I'm getting old.

I have 2 separate remote ballasts, one MH and one HPS. Maybe I'll get a 400HPS for me next run... I got some cool hood ideas I can experiment test out.

I appreciate all the help, but I would like to be able to feel confident about the advice I read. I guess there is no crime exercising your freedom of speech since it's my responsibility to apply it (or not) how I choose.

So thanks to all, but get your shit straight, fucker! You made me reconsider running both for a minute... and I aint looking for friends mother fucker, so why did you come here??? lol

I can see, now, how you could be/were referring to your own personal choice, but I took/read it wrong. Glad the others showed me your evil, wickedry, you liar...!

Co2 setup in CA?

Not to confuse things even more. But if i had a choice of running 300w HPS, and 300w MH separately (not that those exact wattage can be done) or running a 600w HPS, i would probably go with the HPS alone. But with your wattage, and what u have to work with, that much extra light is going to make a big difference, so thats why im suggesting you use both. Also becase of the fact that its not a bad thing to do. IF i had 1000w lamp, i would strongly consider getting that hortilux bulb with both spectrum's. Ive heard its great.

Run both, let us know how it goes :)
