Guys I'm really limited to $250aud MAX, after a few grows I do plan on selling the whole setup I have put together and still breaking even/not lose money.

That's when ill upgrade my setup and have confidence to go with it.

This is mainly for learning purposes only, keep the good advice coming in though. Great bunch of guys!! Thanks :peace::weed:bongsmilie

Your only chance getting a quality product to cover your area is DIY! Just remember? A quality LED upgrade vs ROI ! make it a nobrainer to upgrade! even if its gradual smaller units to do it! more smaller units is best in my opinion anyways!

Do yourself a massive favour, spend the money on a quality unit (wait for the new area 51) or another reputable company or just go with hps.

You will gimp yourself if you cheap out on a shitty chinese LED panel and wish you'd never done it.

Or go the optimal route of doing a DIY cob panel.

If $250 is the max you can go HPS will own a chinese panel, but in the aussie summer your tent will be soaring temps and you will wish you just saved another $200 bucks to buy or make a decent panel.

Thought I'd pop in and give you gents an update. I ended up purchasing the Apollo 6 270w LED.

When more funds are available I will purchase another unit.

My Apollo with a custom spectrum was ok, it flowered reasonably.
For Aussie dudes the trick is to watch ebay/g'tree, the earlier A51 lights will be popping up more often, seen a couple in the last month. @ around the same price.

I can't believe you guys in Oz don't have some 120 lm/w+ LED lightbulbs to grow with which would be better than some Mars II or Apollo from what I've seen around here and there :?? Apollo's are great for checking your exhaust though (j/k) :p

Anyhoo if in Oz you have to be talking to these guys at least IMHO.

It was Apollo8. They 'work', small nuggs, they finished a bit fluffy but frosty.

DIY that shit's just easy, requires some reading but its all here (thanks8)),
but it is addictive bongsmilie

:fire:Are you from the land down under Tazbud? Where did you source your apollo from?

I hate paying $88 usd just to get it shipped here, I want it flown on a private jet for that.

Your keen dude and everyone else who does these DIY's. I think I'd burn down my house if I attempted

Yeah it's a pretty $erious light but they may be able to make you something smaller or at least help with some grow light questions. Plus if all you Aussie/Kiwi growers out there pester them enough they'll see a market for something smaller. That fuckers 55kg :o so a Gorilla tent isn't going to cut it.

From here mate: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2015-best-wholesale-led-grow-lights_60183979121.html

I'm not sure if it's the same unit, this ^ is the one that was popular here (for a few months it seemed..).

I haven't looked for bulbs tbh. Franjan has a good point, on a budget there may be something available, bathroom fittings, good quality bulbs.

Also, there's a Huge.. difference between cheap LED chips and the latest Cree /Bridgelux Cobs everyone's using noysy. I was new to indoor and found the cheaper lighting probably compounded other newby dramas, just a heads up, you may not gain confidence.. ; )
