Will that be enough to keep my room cool and was the way i am planning on running my ventilation going to work? Thanks

you want to make sure you don't over-work your fan. using it to filter the air through a carbon filter, your hood and out of the room is asking a lot. the only way to really see if your plans work, is to put them in place and try them. put a temp/humidity gauge in place and turn it all on.

So then what would be the best way to set it up? Light Carbon Fan Out?

fans suck air out better than they blow air out so keep that in mind. i would hook it up so that the filter is attached to the fan and the fan is sucking air in through the filter, thru the fan and out of the area. it is crucial that you get some fresh air intake but exhaust is most important.

only way to know is do what everyone else said and take some readings.

Your gonna want carbon filter, fan , hood, then out. Are you planning on venting out of the basement and having a passive intake from outside, or just out of your 6 by 6 area. Your plants are gonna need either fresh air, or C02. Your 6" fan should supply enough fresh air if used right. Just be smart, try to put as little kinks as possible in the venting, and keep it short. As for the heat, that really depends on how hot it is outside. Your fan will keep the bulb cool but you can expect the area directly under your light to be a few degrees hotter than outside. If it's getting any hotter than 85-90 outside, your prolly gonna need to run your light at night or get an ac/c02. Remember fans don't make things cold, they just move air around. Goodluck

Every carbon filter I've seen looks like it only has one flange on it, making it seem that it has to be at the very end of the line.

I figured there would be an actual inline one so that I can hook the duct to the hole in my hood (thus making my hood the "end of the line"), then to a carbon filter, then more duct on the other side of the filter, then into my fan, and then more duct from the exhaust side of my fan into my attic. Is this the wrong way to be looking to do it? I just ordered my stuff for my room except the filter, so I can't play around with any of it just yet.

If u want ur hood to be the end of the line do it like this. Hood, threeway duct connector carbon filter on it then fan.

No, the carbon filter is your intake. You need alot of velocity to get air through that thing, you don't want it far from your fan. If you put it after the fan, it will act as a dam.

i can tell you that I just bought that exact fan/filter combo from HTG and got it in the mail yesterday and hooked it up to my tent which is 3ftx3ftx6ft and I use the bottom vents for a passive intake and it changes my air every 19 seconds......I also have it on a speed controller from there ($20) and that helps too. I went filter then the fan sucking through that then out my tent..... soo if you were to use it for that size room and you had a air intake it would probably change it every minute or so.......

I know mine is a tent but I was very happy with the combo.....hope this helps some

A three way duct is worthless if there is a carbon filter without a fan at any end. Air will not go through the filter if there is a easier route. Again, for a carbon filter to work effectively, it needs a lot of high velocity air running through it. This is why manufactures recommend running 6" inline with 4" carbon filters, 8" for 6" filter etc...

With a basement, I thought I'd have issues of too much humidity. Boy, I could not have been more wrong (didn't need to spend that $150 on a DE-humidifier).

The earth's temperature remains a constant 50° - 55°. This means basements tend to be cool in the summer and not too cold in the winter.

Biggest problems: too COLD (not hot) and too little humidity. Remember, humidity should be 40% - 60%.
My room as too cold (huge clone problems). It was dipping into the 60s or upper 50s at night.
Solution: $5 used heater from Goodwill (tested in the store). About $30 - $70 new. I bought a really small one.
Solution: $5 humidifier placed at the opposite corner from filter. I noticed an increase in the humidity production by placing it further away from the filter as the max fan would suck all the moisture out of the air. About $30 new at Wal-Mart. Used one works well enough to ad about 10 - 15 points of humidity. If you have nothing you can always wet a towel 2-3 times a day to create moisture in the area.
I'm also a big fan of the $9 roll of Gorilla Tape, works wonders (Wal-Mart).
My advice to you: many of the things you read about people doing are NOT done in a basement and a basement is a breed all to its own.
For example, many people go back and forth on whether you need a humidity dome for cloning (like with an ez-cloner). If you are fighting humidity issues then you need it. Young plants like humidity. $7.50 at the grow shop. I checked Wally's, Home Depot and a nursery (thinking I could save a buck), none of them had the tall humididomes that the grow shops carry.
I don't understand how you were doing your setup (verbs help).
Buy a timer. They are so handy. I spent about $21 on one from Freddy's (or Kroger) that had 8 slots (4 on a timer and 4 constant).

Will my central A/C vent that is in my room work ok for intake?

If your exhausting enough air, a vacuum will be created, and the room will suck in air from where ever it can. Is that air gonna come from your a/c vent, I don't know. It may be blocked off somewhere down the line while the a/c is shut off. Smoke a blunt in your room then when the smoke is nice and heavy turn the fans on, you should be able to see the path of air movement along with the time it takes for your fan completely clear the room.

exactly... this is the best way. use the fan to suck air thru the filter and out the tent so that the first thing that stankness hits is the activated carbon. its easy:blsmoke:

I Am Planning On Using This Corner and Venting out of the window if not out as close to the window as i can.
