Need to dry in flower tent

I just cut 2 ladies and have no choice but to dry in my flower room. Temps are around 70-78 lights running 12-12, 5 x 5 tent w/600 HPS. I wrapped some black plastic sheeting around them loosely in an inverted cone shape and placed dark material on the floor to help with light reflection. Also cut some holes at the top of the plastic for air flow.

I need to leave for 6 days so am wondering if you all think this will be fine or have any other ideas?

why wrap them?

just hang them and turn the lights off. They'll be fine.

Just make sure your exhaust fan keeps running. Keep the air circulating, nothing more.

chop into buds trim and place in a large jar of warm distilled water, when do you have to leave? best if you can change out the water every few hours. before you leave place them in jars of distilled water and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. fridge them till you get back but youll have to be able to have changed the water a few times or they will go to mush.

you can also add lots of salt to the water and pickle them, it doesnt harm the buds, just makes them white when dried cuz of the fine salt residue but doesnt mess with the smoke, can be washed again if need be with no issues.

another option you have is just dehydrate them in a dehydrator after you trim them. you can get one from walmart and just return it when your done if you dont want to keep it and get your money back. then freeze them to cure then later. or you can just iso soak them and make a decent oil later after polishing with hexane.

lets just go over your options, its better than loosing your shit to mold if you cant do this properly.

this is all that happens to water cured and salt pickled buds, they come out fine. i was doing experiments to see if there would be a way to protect against mold.

Thanks everyone for the input.

My planning was good (except for planning for an emergency lol) but due to a family emergency I had to make some changes I wouldn't have made otherwise and don't have time to get a filter for my veg tent as I had planned :?. That was going to be the drying room this time around. Yes, flower tent is full (Amnesia Haze and Blueberry, can't wait)

Shadymercs, I actually did use the shower last time when I left for 2 days after wet trim and it worked great but smelled the place up pretty good

In Shape vet, very interesting ideas. I'll keep them in mind just in case. Pickled buds, I love it.

Anyway all I do appreciate the responses to this. I think I'll leave the plastic on and cut a few more holes before I leave shortly. Fingers crossed.

it wouldnt hurt to throw atleast a few popcorn in the freezer so that you have atleast a few grams incase anything goes wrong.

iv allowed buds to mold but only after they have cured some. this to me the mold breaks them down further as it eats the plant material but leaves the resin. it can then be washed with vinegar and hydrogen to kill off the mold and then rewater cured to wash off any toxins the molds left behind.

even smoother than plain water cured.

On my way with the clippers, good idea. I have never heard of the mold, vinegar, H2O2 and rewater cure. I hope you are not pulling my leg. Are you serious? I'd like to hear more if so.

You're remark on hexane, can you point me in a direction to read up on that in detail? I do QWISO every run and just love it so if I can refine the process in any way, I'd sure give it a shot.

I'll update this post when i get back to let you all know how it went.

This is the best option i think ^
Hey explosive, yes it certainly is the best option but had to move my vegged girls into the flower tent. 4 of em went 9 weeks in a 2 x 2 under T-5's and they just couldn't stay another week while I am gone. I wish very much that were an option in my circumstance.

What it came down to was move the 4 and take awesome care of them since they are a have great genetics and take the chance on the harvested ones which were gifted and an unknown strain or risk hurting the known strain for a perfect dry/cure on the unknown. Well, I did try out the unknown strain and it is pretty good but gotta hedge by bets on this one.

Thanks man, peace.

Yes I use a cool tube.

Mold is the thing I am worried about. I will reply to the thread.
I made an amazing little dryer box using the warm exhaust air from my light. I have a DIY in the DIY forum. It's super easy to make in about an hour for no money using a cardboard box.

Hey all. I said I'd post results and here it is. The drying went very well, no mold. Went ahead and manicured and set to dry 1 more day before cure. Learned some very good lessons this time around just as every other grow. Another year and I might consider myself fairly good LOL.

This was actually my first dry manicure. I do like wet better as it is easier for me but the dry method produces much better aroma before cure.

Thanks again for the responses, advice, etc.
