Need some opinions

Howdy all, I'm somewhat new at this as it has been about 10 years since i've done any growing. However I do have some experience growing with hydroponics, just on a smaller scale. I do have a few questions i would like some opinions on though. First off I was planning on using a 1000w MH/HPS and growing in an area of 5ft by 5ft. The grow room is about 8'X8' and will have all the necessary components. My first question is should i be trying to grow a few larger plants in that area, more medium size plants or stuff as many in the space as i can sea of green like? Whats gonna be the best way to utilize the space and maximize the yield? What kind of yield do you think can be expected in a space like that. I've got easy access to all the clones i need and thats how i pretty much plan on starting out. Ten years back I was growing in a smaller space, closet sized at about 3'X5'. I had 2 175w HPS' side by side and was starting with well rooted clones that were pretty much started right on the 12 hour light cycle after the clones developed some good roots. I would get pretty decent harvest of plants that were about 2- 2 1/2 feet tall, but always thought i should be getting more weight. I'm hoping better lighting, good nutes, co2, and a little TLC will be the ticket. What do ya think? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You're not really asking a specific question but a bunch of them rolled into one.

Makes it difficult for us to answer.

it almost sounds like you have answered all of your own questions. the sea of green or scrog would probably do well with what you are talking about. don't know much about hydro, i am a soil girl but i did start out in an aerogarden. good luck brother.

Not sure if you noticed but there is several million threads on here, not hard for yours to get lost. AS far as plant numbers, that is up to you. Look into your local laws, in many areas 3 plants is a far different punishment than 30. Many of us have medical limits on plant numbers, so we stick to that. Many claim however that SOG is the way to produce the most per sq ft. Basically do as you were doing before, maybe flower a hair earlier if they were getting 2 1/2 feet tall, and make it a point to trim every branch that threatens to be more than 1" long. That way you get a sea of cola buds and no popcorn from the bottoms. The plants then make bigger, denser colas. Good luck and know this is a good resource, but you need to research not just throw out questions and expect us to jump on helping you, most of us have active grows going that take priority over this site.
