Need some help with my boom grow

So I started my grow with Brazils from Ralphsters. I am a newb on the subject of growing shrooms so I am useing the pf tek with BRF cakes in eight 1/2 pint jars. I used one part water one part BRF and two parts verm. After the cakes were full of myceilium (2 weeks) I put them in a shotgun FC. After around one week the first pins showed up but only two on each cake The booms are opening up small (around one inch) with the biggest at 2 inches, .3 grams dry. I have harvested about 1.5 so far and am not very satisfied with these cakes at all.

dunk them under water for 12 hours, it will push another harvest.

My first set of jars did the same thing. I think what caused mine to do that was birthing the jars as soon as it looked like the jars were fully colonized instead of giving the jars an additional week to "consolidate" as recommended at www.shroomery.org . It took a week for the first set of pins to show and by that time the cakes had lost a lot of moisture which caused the pins to grow very slow. After a good dunk they came back with a vengeance.

This is my flush after a good dunk, I'm very happy with these results. One question though... Some of the booms on my cakes have darker caps especially one cake in particular, any ideas as to what that's all about?

Watch those. If they don't have any noticeable growth for several days, they are aborts. Just pick them and dry treat like you would a full grown shroom. Some folks say they are more potent by weight than regular shrooms.

How long did it take from the dunk to having harvestable mushies?

Not long at all my friend, about a week.

Yes, for a second flush, that is a considerable amount to harvest.

As a seasoned grower, I might suggest that you save the aborts ONLY FOR YOURSELF! They are more potent than a full grown specimen; you should consider them as gold and dose out at about .4 grams per 100lbs of bodyweight. Two grams of aborts down your gut will open up your pineal gland real good! Remember, you are dealing with lock and key receptors of which you are ingesting a major one: DMT, with a 4-hydroxy and phosphorus piggy-backing on it....so, with a gut free of protiens, fats, and grease, and other stuff, you are free to take a fast journey with aborts!

Where did you get your spores? Brazils should have given you that much your first flush; did you take spore prints? (Please say you did!) What is your next strain to try?
