ok my friend on a tight tight budget and he wanna grow one autoflower with cfl.I did a few search on the subjet and so far here my plan for him. I heard that a rules of thumbs is 100w per plant since hes going with only one he was going to gear himself with 8 socket around the plant. I was thinking of mixing thing a bit with 5 or 6 23w 6000k (bulb cost 3 dollars each ) and 2 or 3 23w 3000k (same price) and for flower go with the inverse 5 or 6 23w 3000k and 2 or 3 6000k advice appreciated and wanted ty for your time and help guy

I am totally new to growing, but from what I have read - some people say its good to have a mixture of spectrums and others not so much.
My personal choice would be to choose a 6/2 ratio so the main spectrum the plant requires is more dominant, then maybe switch to all
2700k for the last few weeks to see if it makes any difference.

But I guess what would be even better is all 8 2700k bulbs, plus an extra 2 6400k bulbs, equalling 10 bulbs!

ty to take the time to respond and yeah that about what im thinking and with the 100w per plant I believe that 5 x 23w give 115w of the good spectrum at the right time the 46 w or 69w more would be of the other spec, I just wonder if it is too much of thr secondary spectrum in there the way I wanna do it

I think I read somewhere that you need to overpower the other spectrum by about two or three times, so 69w + 115w is sort of close and might work.
But my thinking would be that people manage to grow plants purely using 12/12, so as long as you give your plant a few weeks of good veg growth under 100w+ of 6400k spectrum like you intend to, then hopefully you wont need much 6400k during flowering, so you can concentrate on getting those buds big with dat 2700k spec!

What you're suggesting for your friend will work. Personally, I don't mix spectrums. I use 2 x 125w 6400K during veg, and 2 x 125w 2700K during flower.

Many growers suggest, like acidbass said, a ratio of 3:1 when mixing spectrums, and if you're only growing 1 auto, your 150w mix should be sufficient. If you can afford it, and if you can keep the temperature down in your grow box, add more bulbs - that'll help increase your yield.
