Need some assistance pleazzz

ok so i have 3 nice plants going right now ,, they are about 1 foot tall ,, i was wondering if i could put them on 12/12 to figure out what ones are male & female ,, rip out the males & then *REVEG* back on 18/6 for another month or so ... this way i could weed out the males & then concentrate all my lights on the females ..i know i could take clones ,, but i dont want to go that route ,, ...............so does this sound like a good idea ? can i leave them on 12/12 until they show signs ,, & then put back under 18/6 ..?????

You can put them back in to veg but they'll take a week or 2 to recover and that's provided that they aren't in flower (12/12) too long....maybe a week. Problem is that males usually show flowers first.

Search the forums for "preflower" .Learn how to identify preflowers and you won't need to force flowering to determine sex.

i looked very close at them ,, i see no signs of preflower ,, i am using 4 26w 6500k cfls per plant & if i could eliminate the males i could concentrate all teh lights onto just the females ,, & i would have more room in there also ,, .. i also searched the threads on preflower & didnt really see anything pertaining to my Q .....

Preflowers generally occur above the 4th node. If you don't feel comfortable with your diagnosos the only other way is clones. You can:

Take clones and then flower the plants you took clones from thereby identifying which clones are female OR...

Take clones and flower the clones them so you know which was a mother that the cuttings came from.

yeah but i only have 1 lil cabinet that all these are inside of ,, if i take clones id have to get another box & diff light schedules ,,

well then...given your limited options I'd top them, wait a few days for new growth and then go to 12/12. You'll be ble to determing sex within a few weeks at which time you can yank the males. If you only get 1 fem at least you'll have a few branches if they've been topped. Don't be disappointed. Males are usually the biggest ones and it's heartbreaking to pull them.

ok sounds good ,, i will top,, i think i will try the FIM* topping method.... wait for new groth & then stick them under 12/12.. until i see pistols ,, then reveg thanks alot buddie

If you can consider a scrog. Might be helpful with 1 plant if thats all you end up with.

if you want to continue vegging why not let them keep going and wait for a pre-flower? no need to rush anything, take it slow
