Need some advice on some new rims

I have a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner and want to put some new rims on her.

Or do I keep it original??

I was thinking about going with a 16/17 in the front and a 17/18 in the rear. But I dont want to have to make any suspension mods to fit the tire/wheel combo. I will decide which tire get after I make the rim choice.

No, I dont want any spinners:spew:, not looking to box the car on a 26 inch wheel, this is a classic muscle car, and I really want to keep with the muscle car styling.

My budget is about a grand before tires....any suggestions??

All I see anymore after looking now for about a month or so is just a bunch of shiny ass circles, cant make up my mind.......

my truck came with these so i don't know the name. they are powder coated so the dirt wipes right off. my buddy calls them "nascar rims". i could get a better pic for you. i love them. no grooves to try to clean.......IMG_3508.jpg

I learned those that FDD posted as bullet hole rims, and pretty much FDD beat me to posting those. you can put them black or chrome and they'd look good on your ride but stock looks pretty good too.

Since those are the originals, I really want to keep them, and I would like to start driving this a little more and dont want to damage them or lose the hubcaps. Plus as cool as it is to have them, I would like to put a tire on her that handles a little better, something with a lower profile and a little wider.

Just had the front end rebuilt, and disc brakes put on the front. After rims and tires, will swap the back to disc as well. Hopefully new shocks by the end of next month. Then to wrap it all up with new rims and tires would make me really happy.

I thought about going with a black rim to match the stripe, and the wife prefers a black and chrome, kinda leaning towards a black and chrome 5 spoke....

What year is your dodge, I have an 89 longbed.....

are those AR rims on that truck

mine's a '79. i've had some engine work done and some smog work done and everyone that crawls around it compliments it. they really seem to like it. personally, i love it. sooooo roomy. i've driven fords and chevys and i always feel cramped. my head hits the roofs. the dodge has plenty of headroom. leg room as well. :)

Chromr Crager SS's would be an authentic choice for that period. I had them on my '70 Charger with Mickey Thompson's and it handled ace. Of course they were 15" by 10".

That was my first thought, had Cragar SS on my old 70 Cuda as well as a 72 Nova that I had....They have some really nice rims out that are still affordable, just cant see spending more than about 250 a piece, blows my fuckin mind when I see people that spend 10k on rims/tires and put them on a car that I wouldnt give you 5k for. They dont drive any better and usually wind up looking ghettofabulous anyway....style doesnt have to cost a fortune:blsmoke:

Man, I had to go out and look, they came with the truck when I bought it, and, yes, they are AR. I too have put a lttle dough in this truck, new tranny, computer, starter, battery, and of all things to go wrong, a flasher relay.

You're right FDD, plenty of room. My wife, four year old in a booster seat, myself and we still have room for the dog...plenty of get-up-and-go for only having a 318 and for being almost 20 years old with the original motor with 106k miles on it I get decent mileage. Better than the Roadrunner anyways, but I have a tendency to drive that a little faster than the truck:mrgreen:
