Need Some Advice on Happy Frog

I am in the flowering phase now and have a couple of plants in 10 gallon pots with Happy Frog Soil. Some questions:

1. When to add nutrients. These plants are small, about 12 inches. I have Dr. Earth's Flower Girl I'll use for P&K.

2. Do you find you have to add Calcium & Magnesium ?

3. What about micronutrients: Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Copper, Boron, Cobalt. I have Big 6 which does not contain Iron and TM-7 which does have Iron.

4. Anything else I should know?

Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

1. Add nutes around week 5-6.

2. Yes.

3. Yes, all the trace and macro nutrients. Earth Wormcasting contains alot of those as well as beneficial microbes.

4. Yes. There is a shit load to know about growing organic. It seems there's a Mountain of knowledge to know! :eyesmoke: bongsmilie

I usually add after 3 waterings or if I see signs before that some plants need more some don’t and some batches are different

I have read on the Foxfarm site that Ocean forest is good for 21-40 days but Happy frog is a lighter mix And that you should start adding nutes after a couple weeks. There isn’t any discussion about pot size. You say Do not add nutes until week 5-6. Can you elaborate? Thanks.

I was thinking of adding some organic amendments after week 2 but Zephyrs got me thinking that is too early.
as long as they are organic and ACTUAL organic not bottled organic I think you should be ok. If you watch the Build a soil videos dude just top dressed with it right before going in to flower.

Yes Do add dry organic nutrients after week 2. Because it takes at least 7-10 days before a top dressing of nutrients will soak down. Also it takes a week or more for top dressing to break down, and become available for nute transfer and uptake by the root system.

Personally I like to add it like the day before I go to flower but many ways to skin a cat as they say!

I repotted near end of week 3 of flower So the Frog soil is just a few days old. In the BAS example you give, I Assume they are using the same soil as they transition to flower. In that respect, it makes sense that dude is adding some nutrients at this point.

Okay, sounds good. As I said earlier, these plants are small and do not have as much greenery as I would like, so I rather not wait for the plant to tell me when to add nutes because deficiencies can cause a lot of damage quickly before they are resolved. On the other hand, I do not want to overdo it.
