Need some advice, got my first two strains coming into my grow room today.

Hey RIU! been gone a while die to wedding planning, here is where im at though. Later today i have my first two strains coming into my room, LSD and Northern Lights.
In my room right now i have a 400W and a 1000w set up. Have MH in both hoods ready to go, I was just going to run them under the 1000W though since its only 2 plants at the moment, kind of a test run.

My question is what do those two strains like in their growing environment? ive got a bit before i transfer them to 3 gallon pots into dirt. Which will be either M3 (michigan medical marijuana dirt or roots organics 707 dirt. (most likely will be the 707)

is there anything specific i should i know about these strains? now im 5'8 and my light grazes the top of my head so i have a small ceiling meaning they will have to be flowered at about a foot an 3/4- 2 foot.

Ive never had my own grow really just helped friends out, ofcourse i learned some tips and tricks but ive come to realize its different when you have your own shit going..another thing is i also have city water and really cant afford an R/O for about another month if my fiancee doesnt kill me for putting more time into this than planning our August wedding.

ALSO id like my grow to be MINIMAL nutes im talking not even letting them get a sniff of nutes until 12/12 stage hence my dirt choice(s)

Remember we were all at this stage at one point constructive critisism is always welcome but please keep the trolling to a minimum.

Northern Lights can end up quite tall if you dont make some effort to keep things low during the grow, its got a quite remarkable stretch and can end up 4 or 5 foot tall. I'm sure you know a few tricks as tying etc to keep things low, also Northern Lights is a tough plant and actually prefers slightly lower temps than the usual, its happiest in the 70 --75 range but will grow just as well at the usual 80 degrees or so, its just that well its better at the lower temps, stronger smoke etc. I'm not an expert by any manner of means but Ive grew NL three times now.

Ive never grew LSD, but know that if grown correctly its an amazing smoke, I have smoked it one a couple of my regular Amsterdam trips where it commands a highish price and has a quality reputation.

There are a few NL ( including mines ) and some LSD grows going on just now, so hunt around and theres plenty of info around.

the only strain i have experience with is the LSD which is indica dominant, and from what i can tell you depending on your plant it can be a slow veg , but the overall end product and taste is magnificent i loved it , i actually got my seed coming very soon to plant a new one, i also do my grows similar with out nutes until i commence the 12/12 period and its nice props on that , but it will be stinky once you get her flowering so be aware

thanks for the info so far, yes im going to stretch the NL out then i have plenty of room to turn that lady into a voluptuous shrub of a plant.

thank you rastadr in my own experience the longer to the the longer to cure, maybe it isnt true for all but if thats the case LSD will be in jars for a few months curing to perfection.

OK I got the LSD and NL in the room under a 1000W mh distance between top of plants and light approx 4 1/2 feet. Last temp reading was 78 with 68% humidity. Pics coming in the morning. Light cycle is running at 20/4 at the moment. Have a fan circulating air also, will be moving them out of their dixies to 3 gal pots with that 707 Roots organx dirt next few days..

Temps at 78/58 going to buy a another fan tomorrow..
Any advice as to cfm on the two fans.. ive got a 200 something cfm bringing air in right now I need to go buy a 435 cfm fan tho.. should I bring air in with the big fan and pull air out with the smaller one or vice versa?
I expect answers by moring!! Lol jk.. night yall.

Went and picked up the bag of 707 soil, temps at 78/54 sanatizing the pots soon as i upload the promised pix.

Now for my next question my 1000w MH is on a 20/4 light schedule should I
Transplant my flowers into their 3 gallon resting place BEFORE the MH goes off at 5:30 PM EST, OR after it switches back on at 9:30 PM EST.

It's a preference like anything else. I myself do it just before lights out, cause I saturate the new soil with just water, and just to make sure I don't burn any leaves..and about your water...I use regular tap water left out for 24 hours, add my nutes and check PH, the tap water has chelated minerals your plant needs anyways, as long as it's delivered at the right PH..g/l

a few pix as promisedView attachment 2659022 the hole behind the fan is my intake for my room the fan is actually now hanging from a bungee it seems to keep the temp more balanced/ambient. gonna transplant at around 4pm then lights out at 5;30. ive got to get another inline to vent air out.. being as out the room i built is in my basement i can keep the grow door open and my basement door closed it will be pitch black. the whole reason behind leaving it open is to exit the old stale air for a few more days untill i can get another inline.

NL can grow to be tall, especially after week 3-4 it just takes off out of nowhere! I grew NL last year (check out the video in my signature) and it was such a beauty, probably one of the best overall strains out there. She stunk to high hell with a beautiful earthy smell. You may want to top or FIM, or even LST your plant if height is an issue. You will have a good experience with it as it's pretty noob-proof.

If it were me, here again preference, I would put an inline fan on my intake hole (at bottom of room) as well as on my exhaust fan (at top of room venting to carbon filter) and have my oscilating fan in the room for temps, and try some CFLs really close for tighter node spaceing, CFLs don't give off alot of heat and in the first few weeks can save on the electric bill as well...lol

Nice set up, and will grow some quality big plants, although the miserly side of me says that 1000W is too much to bring some seedlings on, you could veg them much cheaper than that and save the big guns for flowering, but hey what you got is quality.

Mr baggins you are right that is alot for seeds thats why I added the NL and LSD I got them transplanted. Will update with pix of the transplant around 945 off from 530to930.. letting them breath outside right now In This beAutiful weather were having until night night time.

the hole at the bottom is a 200 some cfm inline fan 4 inch.. the top is gonna be 435 sucking air out through the lights with the scrubber i have stored waiting for a new fan.

came back to a surprise when the light came back on.. will caption these pix. im gna post now.

got this lil surprose when i came back in.. this would be Trainwreck.
my fan hanging cooling the light until i get my other inline fan.. kinda trashy looking but im not out for style points just tasty high n thc budz..
last pic mh on full power temp regulated back. got my room door open getting good fresh air no other light source is available but the mh where its located. its nice to have a room thats always ambient 60 degrees. thats also helping cool me room.
so here they shall sit on a 20 hour on 4 hour off schedule for some time. good night all
