Need lighting advice for my first grow

I'm currently working on a small, personal use crop. It's set up in a closet and well, the crop is a little bit larger than I'd orignally expected so I need a new lighting system.

Right now I have a 250v heat lamp for my light. It's set on an 18 hour on 6 hour off cycle.

This was working fine when it was just one plant, but one has turned into six ( I wasn't really expecting this much sucess) and I know that if I want them to turn into something dank I need light, light, light.

So basically, I'm looking for advice.

What is an inexpensive light/lighting system that you would reccomend a first timer like myself to use for a crop of five or six plants?

Much appreciated. :leaf:

This really is a huge question .. Could you provide more info, like the size of your space, and how much money you are willing to spend.

Since your already using a heat lamp (wtf!) just get a 250w to 1000w hid light.

Dude get those heat lamps out of that room now. A great cheap way to get what you are looking for is using 100 watt cfl bulbs. Day light for veg and soft white for flowering. The more the better! I'm in a 4 x 4 Mylar tent and have 24 bulbs with plans to add 12 more on next go around. Put them about 3 inches from the top of the plant and add a fan blowing on the plants to push what little heat there is off the plant. I made my lights out of materials from homedepot. I wired 6 outlets on a skeleton rig and inserted a lightbulb socket splitter so I could put 2 bulbs in each socket. I hung them from yo yos so I could keep the light hammered on the plants as they grow.
If all this is too much get you one of those lamps that has mutible bendable sockets. I call them spider lamps.

Hope this helps and good luck
