I am replacing the marshydro 600w and galaxyhydro 300w in my 2x4x5' tent and am looking for input on what im gonna build.

So I have 2 different builds layed out so far

#1
8x Samsung F564B LED strips @ 50w each $212.08

HVG-480-48B Driver $150.66

48v, 8.96a drive current, 400w power

1069 PPFD in 2x4'

$0.34 PER PAR WATT

$362.74

#2

6x Samsung F564B strips $159.06

HLG-320-48B driver $93.20

48v, 6.7a drive current, 300w power

769 PPFD in 2x4'

$0.32 PER PAR WATT

$252.26

Are these solid builds for my 2x4x5' tent? Will I notice a difference between #1 and #2 aside from price?

400W of F series strips in a 2x4 is overkill. I'm doing under 200W in 2x4 and they are flowering great.

BTW, you can get the 100W Samsung strips for $48. Only need three of them bad boys...

Not sure how these will compare to the diodes used in the quantum boards but I can tell you both of the QB's I ran had to be dimmed because the lights are very intense. In my 3x3 I was down to 250 watts and in my 2x4 closet down to 220 watts and I could have dimmed lower in each space and still been ok on light.

So I would choose #2 of the layouts you provided as I feel the 400w would be un necessary and way too much for your space.

Now, if you ever think you will have a larger space in the near future then I would do option one with an external dimmer. This will allow you to dial down for now and then up later on for a bigger space but you can use the same light instead of having to build another.

Just my $0.02

Thanks for the input guys. I will go for the second option then!

This just annihilates a 600w HPS in performance and costs only a few bucks more, unbelieveable that LEDs can be had so cheap.
