Need ideas on fans

Hey everyone,
Let me start with the specs.
Tent is 4ftx8ftx4ft
Running F&D system
Lighting is two 600w hids
I have 2 fans, 1 is a 480 cfm the other a 170
When I had just 1 -600 I was using the 480 pulling thru lights and exhausting the whole tent. The 170 I was using as an intake fan. The temps stayed around 70 which was working great.
I added the 2nd 600 and can't keep temps steady with that setup. I need some ideas on how to ventilate to regulate temps.
I'm thinking if I use the 170 on just the lights with the intake side pulling air from outside of tent. And using the big fan to pull air out of the tent thru the filter.
Any input or ideas is greatly appreciated.
Sorry wrong dimensions on tent its 4 ft deep 8 ft long and 8ft tall.

I have a 4 x 4 x 6ft.

Here's the maths for working out M squared per hour....

width x length x height = cubic metres
1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0 = 2.88 cM
cubic metres x 1.25 (to give a 25% adjustment for possible error)
2.88 x 1.25 = 3.6 (this is 3.6 metres cubed per minute)
3.6 x 60 = 216 metres cubed per hour.

So, if you have a 4 x 4 x 6 tent you need a fan that can handle 216 metres cubed per hour.

Why bother with an intake fan?

Use the small fan to ventilate reflectors (combats heat)
the large fan to run Carb filter and shrub/exchange the air.

A length of ducting works fine as a conduit for air.
Passive intake run on the principle of negative pressure.....

IF airs being pumped out, it will naturally be sucked in my the vacuum of neg pressure (unless you have an airtight tent?)
A length of ducting simply allows you to choose exactly where you want the air to come from
AND exactly where you want it entering the tent.

I really do not know why small/medium tent growers ALL seem to want a intake fan?
Is it a type of dick measuring, I've got the most equipment type deal...?

At bottom of thread I said I had the measurements wrong. Its 4ft deep 8ft long and 8 ft tall.
2nd, where did the smart ass comment about di k size come from? I asked a legit question. I know how to figure out the footage and fan needed to exchange air. That's not what I asked, I'm trying to reduce temp in tent and asked if it would be better to have a dedicated fan for lights instead of using 1 for ligts and tent ventilation

Intake fans help with humidity A LOT more than just negative pressure.
If I turn my intake fan off the heat also goes up dramatically.

I keep it cool in the room that my tent is and my temps fluctuate from 72-78 and I don't have an intake fan. I just have to top ports open and the passive intake at the bottom with a 6" exhaust fan exhausting to the attic.. Works pretty good so far I just use central air and heating to control my room temperature. My humidity is alright I guess close to 40% so I guess you could say you don't need an intake fan, I have one but haven't used it. I'd go without one.. Imo

Exactly the reason I was using small fan for intake. The setup worked fine, but the extra 600w is adding too much heat. It may be fine, but gonna be filling tent all the way and want to keep temps and humidity in che k as it's my flower tent

Hiya hydrogreen, what about running 2x Cool Tubes connected together and vented with fan straight out of the Tent...

Cool the bulbs directly and venting straight out should keep your Temps down.

Depends on where you live and how well you can control the temps in your house.
Some people live in apartments, or houses where they cannot control the temps.
Tent getting to 80F means your room heating up. Your room heating up makes your tent heat up more.

To use the central air to keep room cool, rest of house would be freezing cold as there's nothi.g to raise temp.

He would need to vent directly outside of his room, house, or where ever the tent may be.
Venting out of your tent only makes the temp and humidity go up outside the tent which causes problems.

He can connect two cool tubes together, have ducting on each side, one outside a window or anywhere where fresh air outside can be sucked in.
The other can be connected to a inline that is sucking air out of the cool tubes, another ducting on the exhaust of the inline so all that air being sucked up gets pushed directly outside.

Any extra fans can be inside the tent to circulate air
all passive flaps open

The idea of running dedicated fan is what I was wondering. I'm using two 6 in air ooled hoods. I do have a way to pump air directly outside from tent which is the way I have big fan. The only thi.g is it is pulling air from inside of tent then thru the lights.
Which is why I'm asking about the dedicated fan for just lights.

Yeah. I keep it at 65° I just cover up with a blanket, no big deal... I'd rather keep my room in control and be a little cold. Lol

6 Inch inline fan pulling air through the lights.
Lights have ducting directly outside so air gets sucked from outside through the tubes and out the tent directly.
If the air is colder outside (Depending on where you live, cold winters etc) this will be perfect as the lights will almost be touchable.

I have this setup but only with 1 light in air cooled hood and I can turn the light off and touch the bulb with no burn because the air is so cold in the tube.

You think my 170 cfm fan would be enough running the way you mentioned would be enough. That way I can use my big fan on filter to exhaust tent.

Personally I don't think 1 170Cfm will do it.
Maybe a 300cfm or more.

You can get a used inline for $30-50
even new ones for somewhere around 50.

Damn, must be cheap where you're from. I payed like 100 for the 4 inch and 150 for the 6 inch.
I'll try your suggestion and let ya know how it works out
