yeah it will vary, whatever works for you is all good. but i think if he does use that ph down... well...

But he obviously has a p lockout with those purple stems like that in veg, that being the case, lowering the ph Will bring it back. I make all my own soil mixes and they always seem to be a little high ph and I've had plants look just like that. what he needs to do is ph the soil first to make sure its in acceptable ranges and ph your solution eitherhigher or lower depending on that. You can also tell he is a novice and I'm not trying to fry his brain with all the un-necessary details, trying to give simple advice I think Will help imo.

The soil on the bag says it is Ph adjusted for maximum nutrient intake for plants. How would i go about testing the soil to see what it is. Its Fox Farm Ocean Forest if anyone already knows.

shit maybe im just trippin i swear you said your runoff was 6.5... ok then you need to run lots of water through your pot untill you get some runoff, when you get enough of the run off check its ph then rether back to the table and see what your plant is missing out on

- Phosphorus (P) deficiency:Fan leaves are dark green or red/purple, and may turn yellow. Leaves may curl under, go brown and die. Small-formed buds are another main symptom.
Phosphorus deficiencies exhibit slow growing, weak and stunted plants with dark green or purple pigmentation in older leaves and stems.
Some deficiency during flowering is normal, but too much shouldn't be tolerated. Red petioles and stems are a normal, genetic characteristic for many varieties, plus it can also be a co-symptom of N, K, and Mg-deficiencies, so red stems are not a foolproof sign of P-deficiency. Too much P can lead to iron deficiency.
Purpling: accumulation of anthocyanin pigments; causes an overall dark green color with a purple, red, or blue tint, and is the common sign of phosphate deficiency. Some plant species and varieties respond to phosphate deficiency by yellowing instead of purpling. Purpling is natural to some healthy ornamentals.

also i will refer you back to the table, P is locked out at LOWER ph also! easy mistake to make though ive read it like that before 
I also grow in ffof and I know that it is a tad bit on the hot side. I don't start adding nutes until I put them under 12/12 as there is plenty in the soil up until that point. ( I also grow them a bit longer than most befor flower, 2 months min. The only thing I add at all is epsom salts ( for mag ) and molassas to feed the organisms in the soil . I'm not a big beliver in adding tons of nutes that cost a fortune. The only thing getting big and fat is the owner of the hydro store.
As for your problem, its just getting a bit too much Nitrogen, stop feeding it for a bit and just water it with some epsom salts added ( once) and you should be fine. The only reason you would have to flush is if you seriously overdid it on the nutes. Maybe add some molassas as well, to bring out the best in your soil.
