Need Help!!

I have looked around and have not seen anything that resembles the problem I am having with my plant. The upper leaves on a couple growth shoots are curling under. Experts: What could this be?

There are contaminants in your water source, try Brita filtered water, or any other carbon based filter to see if that eliminates it. If not maybe buy some 0ppm water 4$ a 19L jug in Canada or an RO filter.

Ok sorry I didnt elaborate. I have 3 other plants and none show any of the same problem. The temps do get a little low sometimes in to the mid 60s. If temps are the problem wouldnt I see this on all the plants? I have read that RO water lacks certain trace elements so you need all the micro nutes like calcium, maganese ect... Again if this is a water issue wouldnt it be on the other plants aswell?

Thanks for the help!

a toxicity can arise in one plant before another in the crop due to the various immune systems, size of plant, root mass, stress and other variables. I have seen the leaf curl before and water source was the issue. many trace elements exist in water although unfiltered water, especially well water, contain many biological and other unstable elements that cause various complications. also, an abundance of one element can lead to a shortage or lock out of others. I have realized that many people do not feed what i would or reccomend, it appears to be a pretty laid back hippy kind of placee and i like that. But if you want the best possible fruit make sure you know exactly what is being feed to the plant. Starting at 0ppm is the only way to ensure the proper manipulation of the plant diet. If you need these trace elements from the water, as i notice you are simply using tomato feed, use a carbon filter, which will only extract the volatile compounds i spoke of before and not a full cleaning like the RO filtration process. minerals should remain in the water.

i had a few plants show this and it went away without any affect on the plants. if it starts getting worse or the plants growth slows u might have a problem. as of right now i think ur fine. my only other guess is the water also.

SHED I thank you for your input. I will deffinately look into RO water. I am currently only using fish fert 5-1-1 I have the tomato fert that is 18-18-21. I have read that a 3-1-2 ratio is the best for veg and a 1-3-2 ratio for flower. Is this correct? What nutes are you using?

BOB The problem does not seem to spread it actually disapears as the leaf ages but the new growth will show these traits. Was this true for your plant as well? I will deffinately look in to the RO water. I know the more it rains the more shit that shows up in the city water so now is a good time to look into RO water.

I was thinking of collecting rain water but I cant think of a good way to capture it. Any ideas?

They look mostly fine to me but i'm no expert.
The bit of "claw" i see looks like text book overwatering.

and one plant out of many could easily be more susceptive to disease, nute/pH/water problems - even from the same strain.

Email Thanks. I am not sure if watering too frequently could be the problem. When I water with 300ml to the 1 gallon container I end up watering every other day. If I use 500ml then I water every two days. The soil is dry by the second or third day. PH of the water going in is about 6.6 with or without nutes. I have not flushed these yet to measure the run off because I am using an organic fert that causes very little salt buildup. My plan is to flush in the next week or two. Would flushing with RO water possibly fix the problem I am having?

good question - not a soil grower so can't say for sure but flushing does seem to be the answer to a lot of plant problem questions.

The time the issue was resolved we started using RO water to flush for a week then started with the program. Issue was resolved I assumed because of our actions. I do not know why it would just go away on it’s own as the plant ages without any other change to the feeding program. Interesting.

I use many products at different parts of the plants life cycle. I start at 4 or 5 days after cloning, (I don’t start from seed) I replace water and give them ¼ of recommended dose of B1. (A good B1 formula will carry all trace elements, fulvic, humic, amino acid, vitamins as well as have some NPK) (B52, Liquid Karma, Thrive)

At the end of the week, day 7, I replace the water with ½ dosage of whatever veg NPK I’m using at the time, several good ones come to mind, Botanicare one part (organic), Sensigrow and bloom 2 part, and the GH 3 part. With this I include a root enhancer (currently Piranha by Advanced Nutrient) and B1. Week 3 and 4 get full dose of veg NPK adding the additives once a week. Flip.

Week 1 gets the mild-medium recommended dose with Bud Blood as directed, B1, Piranha, and a good one shot of enzymes (Sensizym, Grozyme, powerzyme) with the Carbs (Carboload, citrus products by Botanicare, molasses), but not when feeding the others. What I mean by that is that I incorporate a phase feeding program that simply means I spread the additives out over the week. 1day - nutes : next day -water & O2. Thus 3 feeds a week.

Week 2 gets mild-medium feeding of base NPK, B1, a 0-50-30 salts (although I’m about to try a 0-53-33, strongest so far that I’ve seen), Enzymes and carbs.

Week 3&4 Medium feeding, B1, 0-50-30, enzymes, and on the 4th week I double recommended portion of carbs.

Week 5 mild-medium NPK, B1, 0-50-30, enzymes, double carbs.

Week 6 mild-medium NPK, B1, kick in the potassium with 0-10-40 salts or 0-4-5 liquid, and carbs.

Week 7 flush with agent

I’m sure I forgot something but for now that’s what I can remember of the top of my head. Always keep a journal.

That is quite the program! So do you use RO water instead of city water from then on? Thanks
KM
i didn't want to be pompus and say well i can't say, or whatever, and yes RO water or really good spring water, depends what the water source is really. ppm pen is a good tool and i have found that monitering is essential to a good feeding program, if you want to push the limits. it's very easy to go overbaord when your so close to the line. it's more of a hobby for me to see how big my tomatoes can get. typical male thing, mine is bigger then yours, although to remain humble i sometimes end up with a shriveled little thing you end up using for spice. It's a good thing i don't do it for the money, i maybe would have upset some people more then once. back on topic, the begining of it all, the water, is a primary ingredient and if you like food like me you'll inevitably find out the ingredients make the meal a suberb meal, or just another meal.

Thanks. I have mixed up a little fert that has more K. I have read that a deficency of K will produce leaves such as what I have and purple leaf stems wich is also true. I belive that this might also be a problem with too much chlorine in the water. I wll begin watering with RO water this week. I hope that this will fix everything. All in all the plants are looking ok.
