Hello everyone, hope you’re having a great day.
Me and my girlfriend want to start growing at home. We were thinking of having 2-4 plants in a 4x4” tent? I am from the EU and marshydro/ spiderfarmer are at a sale until 20th of march. For Lights I was looking at SpiderFarmer SF4000 and the MarsHydro FC-E 4800. I am abit scared to go with four plants, I guess starting with 2 would be the better idea? For two plants should I go with a 3x3” tent and would a 300W LED be enough, maybe the FC-E 3000?
I will use the forums for anything else but I can’t decide what size/ brand tent to get and for LED I decided to go with SpiderFarmer or MarsHydro. Budget is around 700-800 euro so going with smaller would be a better idea I guess?
I am sorry if this has been asked 1000 times already. Would appreciate any tips. Thank you

If it just for personal use a 3x3 is plenty.
Buy a dimmable light, and go bigger than what you need for your space. Leds are more efficient run lower and you can increase the size of your tent much cheaper than buying another light

I would go for the 4 plants in a 4x4 under either of those lights, and you'll be fine. If you decide you just want to do two plants, you can still do it in the 4x4 with the same light, the plants will just take longer to fill up the space.

Thank you! I am looking at marshydro and spiderfarmer tents. The 4x4 ones are sold out atm. There is a 3x3 tent by marshydro and a 2x5 tent by spiderfarmer. Should I look for other brands? I will post a link below so you can have a proper look. I could also get the 150x150cm one but I’d need more light? Should I get the FS4800 in that case or the FC-E 3000 and add another 100-150w led?
Thank you again for helping
Spiderfarmer
MarsHydro
Edit: The 3x3 tent is 150 euros and the 5x5 one is 200. I could get the 5x5 one atm but can I use the 300w led with 2 plants for example and then hopefully get a second 300w one and run 4 plants once I get a second light? Or should I start with the 3x3 one and then get a second tent/lamp in the future? My room is 160/160/220 and a 5x5 tent will fit perfectly but im not sure if the spiderfarmer FCE 3000 will be good for that size. My goal is to have around 500grams. Thank you

I have a very high opinion of the SF 4000. I have 3 of them. But that being said there are a lot of other growers using Mars Hydro lights that I would have no doubts about their quality or ability either. They should both be very competent lights for what you are planning.

As for the tent, if you have the room for a 4x4, get one. Do not compromise with a 3x3 because the 4x4 is not currently available. You will regret it in the future. I also like the 4x4 tent size because there are so many lighting options that fit it so nicely, like the SF 4000. Once you go above that you need a better light to get a real nice 5x5 flowering coverage and the price will reflect that.

More space is always better. You don't really want to crowd the plants if you don't have to. Most do that for the highest yield but it also has drawbacks. The drawbacks are it of course takes longer to veg in order to fill the canopy and restricts the airflow which leads to fungus and molds. It also takes more effort to train and defoliate. 4 in a 4 X 4 is great.

BTW You can easily fill a 4 X 4 with 4 plants fairly quickly. I would recommend mainlining those girls rather than scrogging. Don't forget the silica if you do. They will need strong stalks.

The biggest reason I like a 2*4 is how little floor space it takes. I do agree with the dense canopy, but that is at the 200g per 2*2 end of things.

I have a 2 x 4 and an SF 2000, and it is a great starter setup, for me small yields are sufficient. A 4 x 4 and an SF 4000 sounds about right for what you are looking to do. The more height the better as long as the price of the tent is reasonable. Dimmable is a key function for me, it is useful to be able to lower light levels. I run my SF 2000 around 80%

Appreciate it. Im leaning towards the Spiderfarmer se3000 and This tent from marshydro.
I kinda want to get the 150/150cm but can I grow two plants in there for now and upgrade to more light/ plants in the future? Or should I just go with the 3x3” and just get a second tent in the future? Im sorry, im just confused and my budget is Quite low i guess ~1000-1200 euros which is probably gonna be enough for a 150cm tent? 150/150cm-200 euro, 100/100/200 is 150euro

Its going to be hard to get concrete answers as everyone has different opinions on gear, different budgets, and different needs. You have been given some great information already.
I will add that i use an AC Infinity 3x3 tent with a 400w HID.

What hasnt been mentioned is the Air Circulation needs. The more light, means more heat, and more heat means more fan. You have to figure this into your budget. with exhaust fans costing as much as the tent itself your going to need to consider this.

If i were you, id go 3x3, get whatever lighting fits in your budget, you'll want to get a 6" fan. 4" will work, but just go 6". And additionally, you may or may not need carbon filters, to mask scent.

Sorry to add to your whirlwind of information, but the fan thing is something i haven't seen mentioned on here.

Well Buddy I got materials for you...lol...So you decide how many plants you want.....the honest decision will be ultimately how big do you want to grow your plants? Whats your goal? You can get one plant thats fits a 2x2 area....so in your case two plants in a 4x4 you can get three baby ass two ounce plants like this.... trash..20220308_103225.jpg

Or you can grow some big ass trees20220316_072035.jpg
This setup would fit in a 4x4 (sans the rez and most of the plant lol)...but it would be super crowded......and super crowded isn't what you want.......you want to be able to reach every part of your plant.....you might hermie....you might get mold....I say grow two Big ass plants in your 4x4....two are easier to control and maintain.....you will get way more bud growing bigger plants that take longer as you would grow smaller plants faster......I personally got tirred of spendinig three months of my time to harvest two ounces......
So this grow i ditched the tint, spaced out my bitches and grow them to 40 inches before I turned the lights:-)

Now the light here I started out with a spider farmer.... ‍ again it's a cool light, it does more work then it's price tag should warrant....BUT.....you still got a knock off light...bro I went HLG 330R with a diablo board and da fuck@@@!!!!!!:-)......serious I have to dim the lights to look at my plants longer then 45 seconds.....even with grow room glasses it stilll is so bright that it hurts my eyes....I dim it to 20% brightness to work with the plants........

If your area is really humid I probably would grow more smaller plants....but if you can control the humidity (most newer growers don't think about that) then i'd go for guasto and grow some monsters...You'll smoke more later because of it....
