hey guys and gals
on my first grow here and im about 3 months into veg. they are still in 18-6 light but are showing sex now, i got rid of males and now im ready to flower. i used some regular soil with no food or nutrients in it but my plants are still in small pots and i need to transfer them before i flower.

anyone have any suggestions on types of soil that are better for flowering than veg? or is it all just the same

thanks!

anybody able to help lol
Well, a lot of people here on RIU recomend Fox Farms soils, and myself, I am useing Scott's Potting Soil from Home Depot the whole way through. I believe I read that you should use the same soil throughout, as changing in the middle could be stressful to the plants. If there is one better specificly for flowering, I don't know. Good luck!:peace:

I'm doing my first grow in soil, and a lot of people have good experience with organic soils, FF, etc...I am using miracle gro the whole way through, with miracle gro fert.

I'm no pro grower, but here's my 2 cents on soil. The only things that matter about soil is that it supports the plant and roots, has good drainage, and doesn't contain contaminants. Soil is just there to hold everything together, your plant gets its food from the nutes and water you add to the soil. Any soil you buy at Lowe's/HD should have a neutral pH, and if your soil's pH is off you can adjust it easily by adding things to your water.

What's more important as you go into the flowering stage is changing the fertilizer/nutes. During growth you want stuff with a high Nitrogen value (say an NPK of 15-5-5,) and during flowering you want more Phosphorous (5-15-10 for example.)

I attached a pic of my girls, this is them about 1 month after germination. The smaller ones were germinated 1 week later than the rest. The bigger ones are about ready to change light cycles; I just haven't yet because I'm building a 2nd box as my bloom room so I can alternate cycles. Once the cotyledons went yellow I started using miracle gro growth fert mixed with liquid seaweed. I water daily, and water with fert/seaweed once a week. Every time I water I will also mist the leaves with liquid seaweed, it seems to be working out OK so far for my first grow.
