Need Help With Setup

Hello all, I am looking to start my first grow cycle in about a week when my seeds arrive. I am still a little uncertain about my setup I am going to use though. I will have 5 Barney's Farm LSD plants growing in my walk in closet which is pretty roomy. I am going to use a 600 watt hps light for these plants. I also ordered 1 100'x4' roll of mylar reflective material to use on my setup. I plan on lining a corner of my closet with this material for the first two walls of this project but am still unsure of how I should seal the growing environments off. Right now I am thinking about using shower curtains with mylar lined onto them but still, I am unsure of the best way to handle this situation. Also about how much room should I allow for these 5 plants? What formation should I put them in? Other factors (fans? flooring?,ceiling?), and how close I should put the 600 watt hps to them. Any tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your 600 watter will put off a lot of heat. If you do not have an exhaust fan in there you'll run into serious heat issues.

Hello!
You should try to measure temp what is in the grow space when HPS is on. I haven't used one but I believe it will produce heat as in hell. My 150W HPS gives far too much heat for grow box. I had to add lamp ventilation.
Make your grow space separate from the rest of the closet. You probably will be needed to filtrate the exhaust air because of the smell. If the grows pace will be as a separate tent or box there will be no light or smell leaks.
And from that what I have read I have learned that it is worth to use MH(or cool spectrum CFLs) instead of HPS during the vegetation period.

any suggestions? or would it be as easy as having a fan blow towards the outside of the housing? if you could even let me know how you'd manage this that'd be great. Thanks

Make a grow tent from wooden frames and your mylar as big as you want. Cut hole at the bottom, put there fan or leave it empty. Then cut hole at the top of the tent and put there exhaust fan. If smell will be an issue you will put carbon filter on your exhaust tube

If you have such a sweet equipment like you just showed then you will have to add exhaust to your cool tube

Mylar sucks! Use Panda Film or flat white paint.

Ventilation is your #1 concern. You will need an inline fan with a good carbon filter to suck the stank and heat out of your room. You will need to exhaust that air to the outdoors! Crucial!!!! A constant supply of fresh outside air is optimum but no where near as important as good exhaust. If you have a good exhaust, intake will take car of itself.

anyone know how severe the growth would be affected if the top part of the grow system was open?

why dont you just use normal cfl's for growing, thats what i did for 3 weeks veggin from seed, then 1 week 600w veggin then switch to 12/12 saves you money aswell, i just put a post up with my plants and they look v healthy to me

I'm having heat issues with my room. I can't keep it under 86 with both lights on. I have 2 1000w/hps, 6"intake fan, 6" exhaust fan, 9000 btu a/c and 20" fan in a 8x6x8 room. When outside temp is in the low 60's my room is still at 78-80F. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you've got adequate equipment.

WHERE are you exhausting to? You must exhaust to outside of the house. This will draw fresh air into the house without the use of the intake fan. With a good temperature controlled speed controller http://aeroponicsnmore.com/climate-control-ventilation-c-23_5/temp-2v-fan-speed-control-variable-idle-setpoint-p-181 you won't need AC at all. Also, if you have a fresh air inlet make sure it's not drawing hot moist air off of your roof.

Hello I have the same 600 watt light from ebay. I am using a MH bulb in it atm. I got a 6 inch inline duct booster fan that does 160 cfm. my light is cool and my room stays around 75 degrees. that is prolly the cheapest way to cool that sucker. if your adding a carbon filter you will want a more powerful fan. good luck with your grow.
