I started from seed and i put it in a glass of water on may 24 weekend it sprouted its tap root long after that around 1 and a half weeks because they were like 15 year old seeds it was the only one that survived out of about 750 seeds... Its now june 30th and its staring its 5th node i was thinking about topping it above the 2nd set of true leaves not counting the first set of single leaves or the cytledons... I ended up removing the cytledons because they got dryed out when i over watered the first few days but i removed them once it was about 3 nodes high and i was planning on re rooting the top i take off that will have the 3rd 4th and 5th nodes with stim root formula 2 in another pot... Any help would be apreciated just wondering if these are good ideas im growing in a homemade grow box about 3 feet tall and i want to pull about an ounce to and ounce and a half but was maybe thinking of putting it outside if it turns out to be a fem

I dunno, I'd probably wait till she got a little bigger, before topping.

As far as telling sex, you've got a long ways to go. They won't start showing until a couple weeks into flower. You've still got the veg cycle to go through.

Being your first grow, I wouldn't try to do too much training. I'd say, just top her once, and go from there. Don't get overwhelmed by the advanced stuff before you've conquered the basics.

And, seeds are so readily available now that you might think about going that route. Your little one might be a male, and then what have you got. Order some femenized seeds. Lots of advice on where to get seeds online here at RIU.

I like to top when I've got 5 to 6 sets of shoots, then I cut between the 4th and 5th set. I also remove the two bottom sets, leaving 4 main shoots. I usually top a 2nd time about a week later, to create 8 main tops.

I would wait about another week. Check out this article on Bonsai Mum's (small cannabis mothers). Even though it's not what you're doing, if you scroll down just a bit you'll see some more pics on when, and where to top. You might even get some ideas about keeping a mother plant, for clones, so you always have females, and can skip seeds.

Top when you get 6 nodes.
HAHAHAHAH don't listen to this dumbass kid and his dumbass blanket statements.

"top when you get 6 nodes"

LMFAO

as if there's some studies showing the sixth node is best not the fifth or fourth or seventh but sixth lmao. thats how you know when you dealing with a noob; they make dumb blanket statements without any supporting evidence explaining why lmao. "Top when you get 6 nodes"

While there's nothing to say that the 6th node is the magic number, It does mean that the lower nodes have had time to fill out, and the plant is well established. Granted, it may not be this exact way with every single strain, for the most part, it's generally how you want to do it. But, the plant does have to be healthy, so if you have a plant that has six sets of nodes, but looks like a twig, it's probably not going to do so well.

In the pics of my mum, I have 6 sets of nodes before topping. I cut between the 4th and 5th, and trimmed off the 1st and 2nd, leaving the 3rd and 4th.
