Got a 600w hps at the moment. Looking at upgrading to a air cooled reflector... interested in cooltubes, and coolsun type shades. what type would be best for a 1m2 setup??? and what would be an appropriate cfm for a 150mm extractor fan?

The best is a Hydrofarm Radiant air-cooled hood. It's the only hood I know of which was actually designed by lighting engineers. A 400 cfm fan with a speed adjuster would be best. Depending on the external temps, you could get away with a 190 cfm fan -- that's what I'm running in my 600 now (during spring in Cali).

Here's a link to a package with the 6" radiant reflector, a lumitek digital ballast, and everything else if you need the ballast and bulb and all that stuff too. I don't like greners, but it's a good deal. http://www.greners.com/i/packages/grow-light/600-watts/high-performance-grower-600w-grow-light-package.html If you only need the reflector, try ebay. I also use these reflectors and have good results with them.

I use a 424 cfm fan to cool three 600w reflectors in one room, so as long as you have at least 125 per 600w lamp you are good. I've never used cool tubes, the idea sounds like it's there, but I hear they don't spread the light as well...

planning to run the filter to pipe to hood. cheers
Make sure to put your fan between your hood and the filter, so you can suck through the filter and blow through the hood. That way you won't accidentally suck any unscrubbed stinky air through the cracks in the hood and out the tent.

i use a 4" filter setup for my 1.2 and it gives enough extraction but my set up is > supernova hood - pipe - fan - pipe to mother room - carbon filter - pipe - fan ;) - i would use a 6" cool tube with 4" reductors on each end with a 4" carbon fiter and extraction set for yours .................... whats your country ;)

best bet is filter>pipe>fan>pipe>hood>pipe>out
Have you ever tried filter>lower cfm fan>duct>hood>hood>higher cfm fan>out? Much more efficient. I used to run it the other way and didn't have enough air being blown out the end, and my room was over-heating.

Turns out the air was just being pushed into the next reflector and bouncing around inside, and needed to have a higher cfm fan at the end to pull the air through more evenly. But the smaller fan after the filter just ensured that the air is being pulled through the filter first, to create positive pressure.

I only run one hood per tent, so thats not an issue for me.
