I've wondered the same thing about sativas. What the effect is when letting them go to full amber. But from most reports it seems they are considered ripe when its mostly cloudy. but i really don't know the answer to that.
I can say i've had some strains that i didn't know what they were that produced a fine high, and potent at that.... the only report i could really give about a sativa dominant plant was some Jacks Cleaner a friend of mine was lucky to score. It had a very clear high, not dreamy or racy. Just a clean, uplifting high. I don't doubt that alot of sativas would beat out indicas for their anti-anxiety properties. But like i said. I'm no expert and i'm sure strains vary for people with mental issues for the most part.
Maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject will pop in.
thanks for the reply none the less. sounds like it would be a good experiment to partially harvest a strong sativa dominant plant 3 times, once at full cloudy, then another at 40-50% amber, then another about 80-90 % amber. this would give the patient the opportunity to find the right spot. maybe a lil less on the last 2, but you get the point. actually i think 70% maybe overripe and some effects may be lost. but i think your right about sativa's helping mental/anxiety issues.

oh, i think i have read Northern Lights helps with anxiety, and PTSD type symptons. but i have read it is a couchlock too.

it's good to exchange notes, you never know what may turn up
one strain that gets mentioned here for anxiety/depression is Kali Mist(from Serious Seeds)
Hobbes is one grower that supplies some patients, and claims it to be top notch
another strain i see much praised is Sweet Tooth #3, though getting the seeds seems tough, comes out from time to time, there are some crosses of this lineage that also seem to be highly recommended

i have been running a northern lights for the last year for just that purpose
i found it OK, good recreational strain, but fair as medicine, more stony than relaxing, at least that was my experience

I've also heard about NL for anxiety. I actually did do that experiment (kinda by accident) with my Cream Caramel ... I grew two seeds and one clone. The first pheno i grew to mostly cloudy 20 percent amber.. It was good but had a racy onset. The second had i grew to about 40 percent amber. That was a complete couchlock. Not very functional. The last I picked was a clone of the first with about 40 percent amber. still produced that racy onset.
I'm growing out my last seed now and out of all the strains i have. CC being 90% indica. It resembles a sativa more than other sativa dom plants i have. I'm rambling now ... fuck sorry.
Also ALOT say strawberry cough... Right now i'm growing strawberry/blue which is a 50 percent cross but looks like a complete indica, as others i've seen people growing... anyways i 'll shut up now. sorry for the yapping.:weed:
