need help with exhaust please

I am trying to make a exhaust wiTh my rubbermaid grow grow and I will be using a inline 4 inch. Fan how can I wire up the fan and is it Possible to put a charcoal filter on it to for the smell thanks

You can just splice the fan to a cell phone charger if you want.

4 inch is probably not powerful enough to filter the air. But if you must, you put the fan at the top of the box blowing outward. You need passive intakes at the bottom of the tote, twice as large as the fan at least. Three times larger is better. The carbon will be positioned between the fan and the tote...essentially air will be pulled through the intake holes at the bottom with negative pressure, and the fan will pull the air through the carbon and out the box. It's easier to pull through a filter than push air.

So what what would be a good exhaust fan I can use so the filter is supposed to be out side the fan right

The fan PULLS AIR through the filter. This is much more efficient than a fan attempting to PUSH AIR through the filter.

Honest question: Why is it so much more efficient to pull air through a filter than to push air? I haven't seen any evidence either way, but would love to see some actual data.

Ok I am going to go with the pc fan for The exhaust does it matter which one I get I see they have them thru 80mm to 120 which one is better
