Need help with a new grow

Hello Family!

I am a newbie to growing. This will be my first grow. Been smoking the stuff for 30 years. I am currently designing my grow room. The dimensions are 31x22 attached is the floor plan.

A few questions for you folk should I do one massive cycle? Or divde it into rooms. I will be using a gavita DE lamp with a 4x4 foot print keep that in mind. I am having a real tough time figuring out how big the rooms should be Please help this is driving me crazy.

Just a few thoughts. Insulate the fuck out of it. Frame out rooms with high ceilings, looks like you could get 9 footers. Epoxy coat the floors, hopefully you have floor drains they are very handy. I would at least want a veg room, flowering room, perhaps a drying and trimming area if you don't do that elsewhere. Pull plenty of power.

How big are you wanting to go? How many lights for example? That will help determine everything else.

You're lucky you already have the right person giving you advice. I'm just gonna follow along and watch the progress. Looks like that has major potential. I know @Renfro has built a few rooms, lol.

I did a 2x6 spray foam/rockwool. Should have a great R value. Unfortunately the city will only allow me to have 8'6 ceilings. I have floor drains in place. 300 amps of power.

For starters, figure out what space you absolutely have to have for not growing weed. You will need some space for barrels to mix nutes, and store filtered water, dehumidifiers, walkways, carbon scrubbers, room to fart lol.... Then take 25%-30% of the remaining square footage and make that veg, then take the rest and make it flower. Or just make it all flower if you have elsewhere to veg and clone. Check out my grow journal because it shows how you can yield a more by having room to move and using side lighting.

Oddly enough Renfro I have already seen your gro journal. Thats what brought me to this website. I was doing research on CMH DE vs HPS DE. I would love to hear your opinion on that

Even when both bulbs were DE like 1000w CMD DE vs 1000w HPS DE. I am in Vancouver Canada most ppl here use the 1000w HPS DE. What do you think of a checkered set up?

keep in mind that more you will had lamp more the light will overlap .. for exemple for a tray of 5x5 you may use a 1000w, but if you have 4 1000w lamp you can easily light 5 tray of these dimensions..
i dont know if you want to put all your eggs in the same boxe, but you can do split the room in 2 and use a flip flop to do 10 lamp the day and 10 the night
are you using 600w or 1000w bro
4x4 is a 600w footprint, 1000watter light 5x5

i would do the 12 and 12 flip. I am thinking 4x4 on the 750 DE gavitas or 5x5 on the DE 1150 gavita. If i go with the 1150 ill prolly do sea of green as my ceilings are only 8'6 high

i dont know these 1150w but it must be very bright.. i use 600w with adjust wing reflector and good ballast, and i already have to put my lamp pretty high ..
do you plan to put your plants directly on the floor

My main focus when I am designing a new room is my ability to maintain the environment. I actually have a similar space that has been running for 5 years or so. It is in the mountains so I have to manage heat all summer and cold all winter. The property is on 7 acres and I do not have any neighbors so I don’t worry much about scrubbing the air.

25 dimlux 1000w de’s
Dimlux light controller
2 48k LG mini splits with ceiling mounted distributors
250g res with hard plumbed drip system
80 plants with 2 emitters per site
Titan 300 pint dehumidifier
2 CAP Co2 burners.

I am pushing for max yield so I have moved the res and other gear to a tough shed outside the outbuilding. I run nets from wall to wall and have hook mounted for each level.
Once the nets go up, I use a mechanics rolling lay down thing to work in the garden

with a veg room inside the house for the momma’s, I typically pull of 5 runs a year.

both the Dimlux and the titan are shit. I have been waiting for 4 Dimlux ballasts to come back from warranty for 3 fucking months.
Picture was one I took when I was resetting a year back or so.

If I was setting up new I would make sure I put on roller tables so I can work standing up lol
