Need help picking soil from local retailers TONIGHT PLZ

OK, I know this has been gone over many times but, there is no hydro shop within a 1 hr driving range from my home . I drove all the way there and bought some the last time, but honestly, I just cant do it this time as the price of the FF soil combined w/ the gas to get there is just out of my budget range this mnth ( on disability income ).. I bought a bag of Happy Frog last mnth, but it doesnt go very far ( 4 plants basically ) and I was needing something that goes further for the money ( was 29.99 per bag wtf for only 4 5 gallon containers worth ??!!? ).. This time I can spend about $35.00 - $40.00 just on soil, but I need it to stretch further than just 4 plants. I really need to get about 8 three gallon containers worth for that price. Is this even possible? Im not gonna be growing that many, I just dont wanna have to keep running back and forth etc..I am going to purchase the soil tomorrow so any help tonight would be greatly appreciated..

So my question to all you gurus out there is this...

Which soil that is sold locally at like Home Depot/Lowes/Walmart etc would be good enough for my needs stated above? It would really help if someone could post links to the exact items .. just to make it easier for you guys I have posted links to the only 3 real places that are close by.. they are -

www.lowes.com

www.homedepot.com

www.walmart.com

I realize that I may need to mix my own using diff mediums and diff soils, but there is so much conflicting info on what is good and what isnt that im really confused on what to get.. I am going to be using Fox Farm Nutes ( Grow Big And Tiger Bloom Only -NO BIG BOOM ) so this has to be taken into consideration.. I was thinking about getting the Miracle Grow Organic ( still has the gay ass nutes in it ) and some Miracle Grow Perlite ( again w/ the fucking nutes.. cant they make anything w/out there own gd nutes? ) but I really am not sure if that is good or not.. But honestly thats about the only thing ive been able to find at those 3 places.. Iunno about mixxing my own as I wouldnt know where to start by using stuff from those stores.. Can ANYONE help me out and post links to what I should get and how many bags and what ratios etc to get about 8 three gallon containers worth of decent soil I can use w/ my FF nutes?

Thanks in advance..

yup i used tropical soil with NO NUTES from wally mart aswell with great results.... just make sure the soil u choose has lots of perlite in it and make sure it is sterilized and ur good to go.. IMO there is no need for expensive soil like FoxFarm Ocean forest... one day I will try it thow~!!!!!!!!

I just use sterile soil.... with a combo of 40% sand 40% hummus/peat and 20% vermiculite or what ever the hell it is... it's good for drainage and there is little to no nutes in it *all soil has some nutes no matter what*

you can buy all of these seperate at wally world no problem :D
or you can find them all together

miricale grow organics will be fine. mix with some perlite. just be careful not to over water.

I'd stay away from MG soils as they mostly have time release nutes... and are no good for seedlings... and everytime you water they get a feedding....

bro, i'm sure you can find some good soiless mix like Premier Pro-Mix BX or HP (high porosity). It cost like 26$ for a 107 l compressed bag and it last soooooo long...
You can also check out at a gardening shop, they usually sell it.

YES! Pro-Mix BX or Pro-Mix HP in the compressed bale! Best soil(less) mix in my opinion!!! It lasts sooo long and it honestly is really cheap. Great quality too. I got a bale of it for $30 with tax. I've used it with twelve 3 gal pots and two 5 gal pots and it's more than 3/4 full! I really recommend this stuff!

unless they sell it at lowes/home depot/walmart then theres no place around that sells it....small town.. very limited choices etc

If they don't have it then just make your own soil mix. Peat Moss, Perlite, Virmiculite. Adjust ratio to your liking. You usually want about 60% peat moss (well I do) 20% perlite 20% vermiculite. The thing I like about pro mix (other than price and quality) is that the soil has mychorizae. My plants love the stuff.

Dude, all of those stores should have the stuff you need. I'm pretty sure Lowes carries pro mix BX in the bale. They do in my area anyway.

dude, no they dont.. I just called every lowes and depot within a 20 mile radius and none of them carry either pro mix, jiffy 7 peat pellets, or perlite w/out nutes.. this is so f'ing lame.

I have decided just to say fuck it and driver 2 hrs to a hydro shop and buy 2 bags of F'ing FFOF..

Well aint that some shit. If it was me I would say fuck it and take the drive to the hydro store. Call them to make sure they have you want tho so you don't go there for no reason. While you're there pick up some big bloom.

OH, walmart had some jiffy 7 pellets/dome.. But im gonna still have to drive the 2 hrs and get the 2 bags of FFOF.. Is big bloom all that? I have grow big and tiger bloom.. Would the big bloom help that much more?

I love big bloom. It's an essential part of the fox farm feeding schedule. I'm sure you could get by okay without it but I recommend it. We don't have fox farms soil in my area, but it really seems overpriced but people say it's the shit. Try HP in the bale, best bang for the buck.
