im growing three easyryder plants they been in pots for about a week they got alittle stretched so moved the light closer and added some more soil to the top to cover some of the stem one still died it got thin and fell over im using a 120 watt indoor grow light i got at home depot and a 150 watt flood light i have some spiral florecent bulbs should i use them instead the two left are looking ok any help is appreciated

WOW... not good bro. that home depot grow light is garbage. throw it away. lol. the flood light is also not good. we call those spiral flourescent bulbs cfls, or compact flourescent. those are much much much better to use on your plants than the other two lights you have. get as many of the cfls shining on those plants as possible. keep em' close to avoid stretching but dont burn plant. go to store and buy as many as you need, make sure to buy the ones with the highest amount of lumens, which are more important than wattage. good luck and read up as much as you can...
i only have two sockets if i put one on each plant whould that do it

no, you should have more than 1 light on each plant. buy a " y" electrical fitting at home depot and that will turn each of your sockets into duplex sockets, thus having 2 lights per plant. a shop light works, but it spreads light out over a large area, you want light aiming directly at your plants, not all over the room.
the shop light has a hood and i can lower it but if i put one on each until i get the y fitting will they survive i just dont want them to die till i get what i need

you gotta read up on every aspect of growin herb. that's the best advice anyone can give. miracle gro soil isnt the greatest, but thats what your workin with so... that moisture control already has nutrients in it for the first month of the plants life. thus, just use plain, PH BALANCED, water. if you need a test kit, go to pet store. test ur water then add ph up or down. you want it near 6 or lower.... what is the diameter of pot your using? should be 6" minimum, the bigger the better... and get your new cfls asap....

no t5 are your 4ft tube style
im confused by some of the comments in this thread. I use two shop lights which hold 2 tube lights each so a total of 4. Each light put off 2000 lumens and is 6500 K color. So thats 8000 lumens and I have about 5 plants all under 4 lights in a row...is this ok?

for veg yes its fine. flowering though your not going to pack the buds on as fast, as dence, and yield very much. the light penatrating into the plant is where it all happens...thats why we say more light, or get your self a HID setup.
