Need help hanging light in closet

I need an idea how to hang my 400 watt grow light in my closet. the closet is about 3.5x3.5 ft and 7ft tall. ive tried attaching screw hooks in to ceiling but the material it is made out of is plaster or something like that and it just wont hold the weight of the light with the screws in it. Any ideas on what to use or what to do so i can securely hang this light would be much appreciated :leaf:

what i did was cut plywood to fit the ceiling then screwed it in at the corners and sides where the studs are that way you can put hooks anywhere you need them

If that doesnt work cut a 2x4 to the width of the closet and screw it in horizantilly up high then put hooks in that and your good to go. =]

I use shower curtain rods to hang my closet lights. I just get them in at a slight angle and lock the adjustable rod into place, then gently force the rod into position. If you are worried aboutt hem falling, They haven't on me, rubber ends digging into drywall, you can always install closet rod ends.

Use anchors.....
Swag hooks work too, they generally come with a self drilling anchor tip or a toggle anchor. Instructions are on the package, even Kmart and Walmart will have these in garden center and hardware.

Get some cheap trim board, like 3/4" X 1 1/2" or so, they come in like 6 or 8 foot lengths and are about $2 each. Then just rig up an upside down U, 4 legged frame or whatever to hang your light off. =)

Here is a couple pics of how I hung my light fixture . I bought a scrap piece if 1 x 3 board from Home Depot on the clearance bin . Cost about .50 cents .
I screwed the board into the wall hitting the studs . This way I can screw holder into wood instead of drywall . Makes for a more secure hold .
