need help from someone with HVAC and ducting knowledge

Ok so in a 5x5 tent if I were running 1000w and staying steady at about 83 degrees without AC, using a swamp chiller style AC, where should I vent it?? Outside is not an option and it will be counter productive to vent into the same room, my best idea is to tap into the return or something but that's where I need help i'm not sure if that's possible or what the unexpected consequences would be in relation to heat in the rest of the house, also will be in basement probably so tapping into the subfloor maybe..any other ideas welcome..thanks!!

if its in a basement the tap into the dryer duct and blow the exhaust from the chiller out.. takes a lil bit to get shit done around here

Ahhh good idea man thanks!! The dryer does happen to be in the basement..maybe you can also answer this then, will the dryer spit a bit of lint toward my AC exhaust of I use like a y splitter or is their a better piece to stop that..also can they be used at the same time or is that causing a bottleneck of airflow and hurting the motor on AC? Thanks for the idea, I know it can take a bit just had alot of views already

they make a duct flap to stop any return air from entering the duct and will only exit,BUT just in case or until u can get one use a pair of pantyhose over the vent so none will get thru..

Ok cool thanks..i'm starting to think this won't work though because the AC intake will grab smell and throw it out next to the house, I have two autos flowering outside the tent, plus the neighbors will possibly find it odd that i'm doing laundry 12 hours every day since its cold and the steam will be noticeable, that is also one thing cops look for, ice formation and odd venting..any other ideas involving venting into the ducting or inside the house in some way

they also make another style vent for inside ,,its a vented hose that blows the air onto or into a tub of water so the lint will settle in the water and it cools the air down.. great for winter to keep in the heat

Ughh i'm sorry to be that guy but..needs more info lol..that sounds like a viable option but Idk if it will work with my AC, can you point me in the right direction a link or what its called, what I would look up

I'm using the AC system of my house to keep my room cooled/heated also. Do not connect anything to a return duct or you will be sucking air OUT of the room and blowing it into the rest of house unfiltered. I did this and it took me awhile to figure it out. I ended up running a a tube (my house has the insulated soft tubes) to what looks like an exhaust vent in a room that didn't really need air and use it to pull air into the room through.

Initially, I had one input vent connected to the HVAC output and another that was connected to the HVAC big air intake (it was close and convenient). During the winter I would close the HVAC output vent. When the heater ran it pulled unfiltered air out of my room and into the intake and blowing it throughout the house. This happened during the summer too but since I had the HVAC output vent open too, it just caused airflow to be reduced but no back flow.

Air is like water, you have think about the entire system as a whole to understand what's going to happen.

FYI - I have a sealed light with it's own dedicated air intake that pulls in outside air and blows it out into my attic. This air only cools the light so there's no odor issue. I also have a bigger fan pulling air through the room at all times (whether HVAC is running or not) and pushing it through a DIY carbon filter box. Without that second fan, my room would get much colder (winter) or hotter (summer) when the HVAC system was not actually running.

Temperature control was THE biggest issue I faced setting up my room so I would think things through carefully.

I'm sorry for the confusion..i'm trying to use a swamp chiller as the cold air provider not the house unit..my humidity is very low and heat high so it should work perfectly but it had a hot air exhaust vent on the back which is what I was wanting to tap into maybe the return to send the hot exhaust back up into the house..am I thinking about that wrong?? My only other option that I can think of is to run a longer duct up and out the basement door but I don't know if the heat will make it or just radiate through the ducting

i used to have on and the hot air is just like a portable unit ,its hot so if you have a tent then just send the hot air in the basement to keep it warm the smell won't be that bad,not from them. i used to put dryer sheets in the air return so when it blew out the smell of dryer sheets were the smell. or you can get a turbo fan and carbon filter for smell and draw the heat off the light and temps should stay about 80.. i use a 5x5x7 and a 1000wtt air cooled and a 400wtt not cooled.the big light has the turbo fan pulling thru the carbon filter then the light and out the tent to well my room via roof vent..

hey check this one out it will cover any dust and you can fill the container with ice water if needed to cool the exhaust ..just an idea..

Ok so your saying if I vent right into the same room it will work ok? I'm not worried about smell too much in the case of venting inside the house...I think i'm going to have to just run a duct across the basement far from the tent as I can and see how that does :/

yep that unit is only like 1500 btu's ?? that heat is not that much for a basement.. does it have a dehumidifier control on it..

does the floor have a overflow in it?? i have sent bad air thru the floor vent and no smell comes thru any inside vents due to the p-traps in the plumbing .. the smell is raw sewage just like its supposed to..

not trying to blow this post up but if smell is an issue then buy a few c-99 indoor line seeds from female seed co. the smell is of fruit.. at all times.. the breed is a sativa indica mix but will finish in just 55 -60 days from show.. just an unreal plant with tremendous amount od trichromes ifif let it sit in dark for the last 4-6 days before harvest..

I've probably got two years of stock to get through lol...smell isn't a huge issue secondary to the temp issue...the floor vent? In the basement? You mean the dirty hole not heat ducting right?? The more I look into what a returnvent is the more that seems like a good option to send the heat elsewhere..

yes just vent it as far away as possible so by the time air returns to the tent its the same as the basement temps..i have also sent hot air thru a 100qt cooler full of ice to cool the air.. cooler isn't anymore good but for that purpose.. i also put dryice in it and send it back in for co2..
