I don't transplant to Ocean Forest until 2 weeks from seed and haven't had a problem. I usually start the seeds in Jiffy organic seed starting mix then transplant. I also agree with Scroglodyte, just ride it out.....You could transplant into something that's not as hot if you want (like light warrior), but your plants are already stressed at this point and I'm not sure how they would take the additional stress of the transplant.

Why don't people research at least a little bit before they start growing? Why would you go out and spend the $$ on all the shit to grow and not SOMEWHAT know how to use it?

I'm not trying to blast you OP, I'm just the kind of person that wont spend money on something without researching it.. Before I decided on using Fox Farms and spending $20 a bag on the shit, I researched all the different kinds of soils available and it was immediately evident after reading up on a few searches of ffof that, it's too god damned hot for seedlings.

I research my lights, my nutes.... School yourself a little, there's a ton of information here. Then you wont waste money and burn up plants..

So since you didn't read up on ffof very well, how did you come to the conclusion that it's the best?

Start your seeds in Light Warrior, after they have their 3rd set of leaves, then you can transplant them, but I would suggest a mix of FF soils.. I've posted a good mix, but if you want it you can search for it. LOL...

You need to use something like Fox Farms Light Warrior from germinated seed to day 7 or so, then transplant into a 50/50 mix of warrior or similar and FFOF. Then once plant is established you can throw it in full FFOF.

Some strains just don't do good in straight FFOF early on, out of 100 or so container grows using full or mostly FFOF in early pots Vanilla Kush is the only strain I've had a burn issue with. But now I just use 100% light warrior for 5-7 days then into FFOF mix it goes.

I agree, too hot for seedlings. Check my Veg+Bloom thread below and you can see how well it works with established cuttings, but seedlings... too much available nitrogen. You could also try mixing it 1 part ocean forest to 3 parts perlite, rock wool, or sand. Start your seedlings in rock wool, on 2nd - 3rd set of leaves transplant to amended ffof. I look forward to seeing how those seeds turn out. Keep us posted!

Where's that veg-bloom thread at? How's that stuff working for you? I getting ready to start a run with it in my Fox Farm mix.. The only thing I'll be adding to the vegbloom regimen is a shot of silica blast here and there and MAYBE a bit of molasses. It smells sweet enough though. I mixed a little up for a plant today (it's been on maxi-bloom) and I wanted to drink the koolaid lol.

It has silica in it so I would drop the silica blast. I don't know what the smell comes from but I assume it is the carb complex they claim to have in the product. Works great whatever is in it!

Someone is probably going to come along and say this guys is being a dick, or isnt being kind to new growers/members but that is BS if someone says that. People expect to come here, have everyone answer there questions and tell them how to grow. Its one thing to not be able to find something.. but at least attempt to search. Theres a great search tool on this site. This site has been up for years and years, 95% of any info you could ever need is on this site. SEARCH FUNCTION

the dude said it. start seeds in light warrior! or better yet, a cactus mix like black gold.

as far as using silica blast, consider using dynagro pro-tekt silica supplement. It's like 4x more concentrated and just about the same price.

I've read alot of info on OF being to hot for seeds and cuts, but I've let beans crack in distilled water and put in ocean forest filled solo cups. I lost 2 out of 10 beans and the other 8 are in way better shape than my friends beans. Could be a fluke but then again I've rooted clones within a week using ocean forest, although Im going to switch to an aerocloner or at least use plugs or cubes so I can avoid ruining future clones.

I think it depends on the batch, how hot it is, how long it "cooks for". At least thats what I heard about roots organics.

op, flush the container with twice the volume of soil (3 gal soil 6 gal plain water).

happy frog is a nice medium, light warrior has NO nutes, ffof has quite a bit. from seed you can give water only for about ten days and then they will be looking for food. so if you go with light warrior prepare to feed around day 10

You can just flush your current pots a ton, I mean 5-6x the pot volume of water and basically wash out any "Water solubles a.k.a. instant/fast release" organic nutes in there..... that will also help prevent burn.

Personally I have started cuts in both FFOF, HAPPY FROG, ROOTS ORGANIC, and more....
Never had a burn issue with any of the soils I have tried.... even adding extra EWC and Mykos to OF when I planted my cuts into in in 6x6in. sq. pots..... ** shrugs ** I know whats in alot of "potting mixes" is regionally different maybe thats why.... maybe it was just luck.

Get 1 small brick coco, and 1 bag light warrior, and 1 bag FFOF and mix it all together, its a perfect indoor starting mix that still has nutes, drains way better and more evenly then FFOF alone and will not burn seedling or clones. Then once like 2-4weeks old you can transplant into whatever hotter mix of choice.

If I was to buy bagged "soil" again, its just the original blend "Roots Organic" that stuff IMHO is one of the best bagged soil mediums you can buy.
