I'm looking at 2 dif light fixtures my grow space is 40L x 20W x 40H. I'm looking at these two fixtures. I just finished a pretty good cfl grow but was pain in the ass with all the wires every where. Please let me know what you think.

The 125w says 3x3 grow space which is just about what I have and I can support with a few cfl's

Well, yeah all the wires are a pain, but that fixture isn't large enough to make much of a dent - is it? You might need more than one. The compact fluorescent looks really nice, I think.
If you did CFLs before - you know they work.

I was thinking of going with 2 of the 24" fixtures....

stick with the cfls .The only thing the shop light is good for is clones and seedlings

what about the 125W from hydrofarm? do you think that or maybe 2 would take place of the CFL's? Trying to minimize amount of lights needed for about 6 plants last grow used 18 cfl's with random bag seed yeild was almost 2oz with 4 plants

I think the 150w HPS looks good - at under $80. Darn it, makes me think if I need to consider HPS - I'm all LED. So many alternatives.
The only thing I don't like with HPS is the high surface-temperature of the lamp, as well as how to get rid of all that heat. LED works for me, I've got to stick with it for a while, to see how it performs. I'd be interested to see what you end up with.

I have also considered LED but again the cost for the footage it overs i believe is fairly large. what did you go with for led? I may just have to stick with the CFL and just figure a way to deal with it..........such a cord mess though.

how many panels of what size are u using for what size grow space?

i would say stick with the smaller cfls. when they get up to that price and size is when its more logical to just give in and get a hps

With only 40 inches vertical you are likely to run into height problems and should get something that gives you as much clearance as possible and will allow the foliage to get close to the lights without burning. T5 HO

well guys I think i decided to stay with CFL's......not really that I wanted to but I was able to go to lowes and pick up some metal shelving and be able to attach the CFL's to them for easy raising and lowering. (also part of the big problem) Also picked up some larger vent's to increase airflow guess I will stick with what I know. I would however like to pick up a couple of the 200w systems and see if a couple of them would kill my need for all the cfl's.

I agree with you about the cord mess. I have the same problem, and I find the LEDs to reduce that significantly. I use three 90w UFO LEDs that I have bought on eBay from $125 to $155 delivered. I'm happy with them. I use one for veg 24/0 and two for flower 12/12. My grow space is about 2X3 feet and as the plants are starting to get larger, I might consider more LEDs. Right now I'm filling in with CFLs. My grow is 'Led grow' you can check it out.
