I aim to yeild a lb or more each harvest i am thinking about going with a 4x4 tent with 1000 wt lumatek ballast and 1000 wt bulb. I dont know., i am a newbie grower and want to get the best quantity and quality possible. Im thinking about going with og kush if i can find a good seedbank if you have any in mind that would be great thanks. So i want to ask you a few questions if you could answer that would be great and i would really appreciate it.

1.) what all do you think i will need for an ideal 4x4 setup?

2.)what kind of nutes do you use for veg and flowering?

3.)do you think soil or hydro would be better for a newbie like me?

4.)how long do you usually veg and flower?

5.)what kind of kush give the most quality and yeild. And what is a good seedbank i can use?

Thanks in advance.

dont run before you can walk. 1lb is an achievable target without too much hassle but just get the firts grow under your belt and then you'll truly understand. im in the UK and i dont know where you are so some of the products i suggest may not be available.
all you need is your light, your tent, an extractor, sum eazyrolls to move your light up and down, temp/humidity gauge, and other sundries like buckets , measuring jug etc.
my advice is start in soil, its more forgiving. go for basic nutes, dont fuck around at first just learn the plant, BIO-BIZZ is a very good product they produce a whole range, get gthe flower and veg nutes and maybe a pk13/14(its abooster nute used in flowering) you DO NOT need anything else. those greasy fucking salesmen fuckers will try to sell you snake oil and essence of moonbeam, dont watse your cash, later when you've got the basics then maybe play around a little. its thte same with soil, there are dozens to choose from, and tbh there aint much fuckin difference, stay away from those with added nutes, their a pian in the ass unless you know what your doing; damn easy to fry or kill plants with them.dead plants dont yeild. veg is up to yourself but usually its not atime issue, its a height one, when you change from veg to flower they will double in size and can trble. in a 6 1/2 tent, you want to flip em when there maybe 2' in height. as time passes you can try other methods like lst, supercropping scrog etc. forget about just at the moment. go for 4 or 5 plants. 15 litre pots although start in 1 litres , then move to 3litre. if you need anything else just ask. i dont know how much knowledge you already have so i'm not gonna type everything i know just now. as for seedbank just go to nirvana and have a look, theyve got plenty breeders and ive never had any probs.

The best thing you can do is read through posts where people are doing similar to what you plan.

Ok thanks you gave me some great advice, i will start out with a smaller goal, but do you think 1lb is acheivable given the space? Also do you have any advice on lighting for that amount of space?

Research research research do some reading man. You have got to have some base knowledge before jumping in with both feet.

Here is one link ill recommend for soil https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/338384-2010-revised-super-soil-recipe.html
Super soil is super easy for the beginner, if you make it right and use the correct amount for the plants you are growing.
Once in the pots all you add is water Everything the plant needs from start to finish is in the soil.
Been using it for years and am never looking back, the time and money it has saved me is amazing and the results are out of this world.
Its easy enough for a noob but gives results that would make a pro a believer. Its the shit man check it out.

I am growing Barney farms Vanilla Kush right now and wow for a person not big into kush it is a keeper in my garden.
It has fantastic structure, nice node spacing, fast growth and looks to be crazy sticky.

One last thing I will recommend is a automatic fire extinguisher http://htgsupply.com/Product-Watchdog-Automatic-Fire-Extinguisher-2kg.asp
Worth every penny to have the piece of mind it gives.

A 600w or a 1000w hps/mh would do great in that space.
But remember ventilation ventilation ventilation! Lots of air movement is needed to keep the heat down.

achieving a pound is a pretty high goal you can have top end gear but one thing is experience your talking a 4 x 4 area and a whole world of shit can happen inbetween a grow
So its not like you can pack in the plants 2 plants would be ideal you need to read up on scrog methods low stress training supercropping and fimming in order to fill up area also root mass = yields so your going to need a 3 stage transplant method finishing in something like 30 gallon pots veg times will vary but look into 5 to 7 week 18 /6 schedule Veg to achieve big plants
your looking at kush plants well purple kush is one of the bigger yielders in the kush family but remember its 76 plus flowering days so in order to achieve what you want your going to need 125 days and thats not including seedling stage

Got around 20yrs total kinda lost track after a while.

Forgot to mention the super soil that I mentioned is organic as well as being the easiest and best way ive grown.

One more suggestion give soil a try first get at least a grow or two under your belt before you go hydro or aeroponic....
It will make the transition much easier having a bit of experience with the plants in general.
I feel if you jump right in to hydro the learning curve is pretty big.
They are way more complicated and require a lot more work and whole lot more money.

No prob, helping people grow there own dank is what its all about.
Good luck

im not up in the 20 year bracket but ive done it for a few. im currently working with a 4 pot dwc but im just about to start a a soil grow in a friends house, be quite nice to get back to basics. id have given them a dwc but as theyve no experience and i cant be in their home every day its safer to go soil. soil gives you time to solve problems, hydro doesnt. the main problem for most hydro growers is adjusting ph and checking the nutes in the water, for this you needeither an ec(electrical conductivity) meter or a ppm (parts per million) meter, fortunately for me i live in scotland and our water is very soft and some of the best in the world( that why our whiskey is the best in the world) so we dont have problems with salt build ups and such.
best of luck and just ask anything you need to know, im in here most days.(coz im a lazy weed growing fucker that doesnt like to work!)

Sound like a good plan my friend I would go with 4-5 just in case something happens to one.
As for the feed concern.....
Check out the super soil its very easy no nutes to measure no guessing, its all in the soil and available for the plant when it needs it.
If you need a recipe for a smaller batch i make enough for two 4 plant grows at a time.
Its so much cheaper the using commercial nutes and works better imo and its organic, you don't even need to flush at the end of flower.
Because you are basically flushing the entire grow, because of this you get natural plant fade.
So you get nice color change in late flower just like fall plants outside.
And all you add is water nothing more.
Its only takes 10-50% of ss in the bottom of the final pot and the plants have everything then need from start to finish.
Low %ss for indica dom high %ss for sativa dom plants.
Its amazing stuff man definitely worth a try, I will not use any thing else.
Any questions about it that you cant answer with the article I linked in the above post, I would be more then happy to answer.
Just message me.
Good luck sounds like you have a plan now.
