Need direction on what next.

so me and my friend just today planted 5 seeds, one in each cup and two in a huge pot. this is what we did, please tell us what to do better!
surrounded a 10 gallon fish tank with tinfoil
filled cups and pot with planting soil, some mixed with seed starter
watered with miricle grow water mix
put a normal watt light in and boxed in with the tinfoil
in a closet with door shut.( note we do open and ventilate regularly)
what is our next steps and if we can improve on please let me know!
we can use an air pump for better circulation.
we can also use an infrared heat lamp but i think it will be too hot.
*also note: We have to do it in a closet.

sounds like youve done most things right, although i dont know why a lot of people choose tin foil, if you have nothing else then it is a fine thing to choose but the problem with tin foil is it will relect light in concentrated spots more than an even spread so some parts of the plant will get more than others. apart from that it all sounds good, hope they grow well!

one question though...do the seeds have to be fresh and how much should i water?

well for one if you are using the tin foil as a reflector, then STOP it will cause hot spots and can burn your little plants. Also using any kind of fertilizer or plant food can hurt your plants at a young age, try using bone and blood meal instead. Use blood meal in the veg stage and use bone meal in the flowering stage. You should start out watering about 1/4 cup of water every 2 days while they are in small cups.. We need to know your lighting wattage since there really isn't a "normal wattage". And if you are using incandescent lights then stop and go buy some cfls or a metal halide setup. And infrared helps your plants in no way, it will merely kill them from the heat.

i have no idea what I'm doing really..this is the first time I've tried and I dont smoke daily or anything...I just want to get probably one budding plant..enough for personal use. right now I just found a lamp in my house
but its too hot so i need a different bulb.A 60 watt cool white bulb is what im using but it wont even come close to having enough lumens would it?
I could also get a computer fan but I dont know how to set it up to run.

first, go to the store and pick up a couple cfls in the cool spectrum... incandescents are no good for growing pot...
then, take out the foil in there... if you can get some "panda plastic" (white on one side black on the other) that would work a lot better.... but don't use the foil
stop using nutes right now... you won't need them for atleast a couple weeks, but maybe even lonnger
