Hi Everyone,
I am brand new to this whole growing thing. I have made the decision to buy a grow tent. There are so many to choose from. Any suggestions as to which one to get? I'm not looking to spend a fortune but I'm not wanting to get the cheapest either. THank you

What size are you looking for? Or how much space do you have? Amazon has great prices on tents, go check them out.

Btw welcome to RIU

When you purchase items for growing keep in mind you may want to expand in the future. Buying a tent for example - Go as big as you can to avoid needing more space.
Get a durable tent - I've read of complaints where they aren't strong enough to hold some kinds of lighting and venting.

What kind of lighting will work best for you? I've seen plenty of nice grows done in a tent with LED, some with CFL, and some with HID lighting.

Keep in mind growing is a marathon - Tons of work, learning, successes, failure - sometimes, a great hobby, and possible way to save on your future herb.

I use a lighthouse tent when I wanna segregate my plants and am quite pleased with it.
The cost is reasonable.

I'm thinking something small. I'm only growing for personal use. Maybe 2-4 plants. I'm looking into this one.... Apollo Horticulture 48"x48"x80" Mylar Hydroponic Grow Tent for Indoor Plant Growing on Amazon Has anyone heard of this brand?? Is it good? I'm also thinking of using CFL lighting. Is that good or is there something better/more efficient to use? Maybe LED or HID is better??? is a new journey for me and I'm getting a little overwhelmed with all the research and info out there!!! Sorry for all my silly questions! THank you all :)

I am doing the same thing final phase said...just getting everything to start out and improve items when I am more experienced.... I grow for personal use I bought a 48x24x60" tent and it is big enough for now...I suggest using some t5s or just a lot of cfl's because being new you can get to learn a bout the plant first without hps burning them etc...using cfls you can keep them very very lose with out lite burn and study the plants to get out every viable info without less damaging of things....buy some fans as well before you start planting

I have that tent and its pretty good. It comes with metal poles and corners, plenty of duct ports, and doesnt look stressed at all under the weight of the air cooled hood and 6x24 can lite filter. I would recommend it.

I have the same tent you are looking at on amazon and i can vouch that it works great, it supports two LEDs fixtures and many ports for ducting. Word of advice i ironed the seam inside around the zipper it helps keep the inside lightproof.

That would be a good tent for the price. I would be getting LED lights to go with it. MarsHydro has about the best LED lights for the price out there right now.

You would want 30to50w of draw from the wall per sqf of LED for best results. A 4x4 would take one of their 1600w or 800w draw from the wall lights.

or 4 400w Mars 2 lights. A pair of Reflector 144x5W would also work well in there. I would go with 5w LED over 3w for better penetration.

With a 4x4 you should be able to grow four good sized plants with the right light or two good sized ones in a 3x3.
