Hello guys, i bought 2 27watt(100w equivalant) day light, HG i think, 1300 lumens per bulb and plus the stock 25w AG lights, and a 65watt plant reflector, so 290watts in all. I have 3 plants 2 weeks old. I want to know if im going over-board too soon or if this is just perfect. Here is my setup, please give me some advice this is my first grow.

The temp in the water or the temp in the room? I have a 9inch fan in the room above the system. And the water is a little cool. I want to make sure the length of the light from the plant is not too close.

And i would ALSO like to know how long to keep my lights on, i have them on 24/7 right now, when should i switch to 18/6?

18/6 really made my plants grow better i was running 24hrs also, im new but they apparently need the darkness to break down glucose if i remember correctly

you should be reading the hydroponics/aeroponics section.

also you will need complete darkness during 12/12 cycle or risk your plants to be males or hermies.

as far as cfls or fls your lights should be closer within 1-2 inches i believe, as long as the leaves dont burn.

the aerogarden light will need to be hacked and placed on its own timer i think. at least my model did.

maybe the upgrade allows you a 12/12 setting.

and yes go with 18/6 although there are some proponents on 24/7

You should be fine, I would keep them at 24h for the first week or so and see how they are doing then go to 18h. You can put your hand near them and see how warm/hot it is. If it fills to hot then move the lights.

Peace.

cfl's dont get hot man... you should be ok. i used to run 10 23watt cfls with no heat issues.

More lights the better.

Yes cfls do get hot. and when you have a new seedling they can burn them up.

No they are not as hot as hps or mh but they do have a temp to them so don't be fooled, I have burned the tops of plants using cfls.

Peace-
