hello all. I'm in the process of designing/building my aero setup, taking a look at the attached picture,I have a 5 gal bucket I plan on either fixing my misters either to my bucket lid or on the bucket itself where the lid attaches. Now heres here I need your advice.
First is my net pot setup. I currently have seedlings growing in rockwool cubes, I plan on putting the cube nestled in hydroton. I don't want my cube to be exposed to the misters, So my questions concerning this- Will the hydroton provide a wick affect and hydrate my rockwool cube, and if so would it be sufficient. - Will my roots grow just fine through the hydroton?
2- my mister placement. I currently only plan on using misters at the top portion of my bucket, spraying into th netpot and down the roots, now heres my question on that. Will misters at the top be sufficient throughout the lifecycle of the plant or will I need to add another set of misters farther down the bucket?
Also i'm unsure of how the roots will grow into my aero bucket, what causes the roots to travel down? just fom gravity? Or is there something I need in the bucket to motivate the roots to travel down further into the bucket.
Also, how Am I to go about giving my plant nutes and water when I initially transplant the cube into my setup? i assume it'll be awhile before the roots can travel into my mister streams. Am I going to have to manually water from above for a week or so or Will the hydroton wick the nutes and water up into the cube.
