what should I get for lighting and exaust, etc. I am trying to grow 8 to 10 plants at a time. I just ordered a 4x4x7 grow tent and already have a 400 watt hps. I need to know if that's strong enough for maximum light and what's a good priced blower fan and carbon filter to get. What cfm and should I get a speed ontrol dimmer? 4 or 6 in? And best way to set it up. What's the best soil organic nute? I was thinkn about iguana juice??? All advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you much.

i have a 4x4x7 an i use a 400 an it works great its not "maximum" light though. your more limited by keeping your tent cool than wattage. I would go with all six inch again more flow = cooler room an i run my fans with my light timers. i use an inline fan for my 400 but i also have a small ac unit for each of my tents as well if you go any higher i would invest in a good blower the more cfm the better. If your looking for the cheap way out make your own carbon filter its a lot more labor but the stuff to make one is relatively inexpensive, at least in my area. As far as organic nutes go i use super soil it is a bit of an investment at first but it makes things much less complicated also i can reuse it and if you compost it correctly it gets better after its been used.
Also i went to the thrift store an bought a bunch of old blankets and draped them over my tents they help keep the cool air in THEY HELP A LOT!!! obviously the same goes for winter an heat if thats a problem in your area. i spent 20 bucks on old blankets an my ac actually shuts off now where it used to run almost constantly.

Thanks stonyk. how many plants do u grow at a time and whats the yeild on em? And you familiar with mother plants? can I keep two mother plants with my veg and clones with 4 ft. t-5? Or will it be hars cause i wont be able to lower the plant super close to the vegged plants? And do u ever throw rooted clones directly into flower with good results? Thanks bro for the advice.

i do 12 at a time under the 400 in the veg room and i also keep mothers, the only thing with mothers is the size i just keep em in the corners turn an chop em down every now an then to keep em healthy an under control i also grow new ones every 2 harvests an flower the old mothers as they tend to get a little scraggly over time. you want your light a good 15 inches(this is for a metal halide, give or take a few inches) above your canopy anyways or else you will fry your plants, t5s work fine for veg i prefer a metal halide but thats just preference plenty of others use an love the t5's. if your looking for pure speed you can throw em strait into flower it wont hurt em but your yield will be small unless you have tons of the "lollipops" which people do grow that way, i actually accidentally threw my clones into flower this last time and had to wait for them to revert but now they are awesome! no topping neccesary. i personally prefer a good veg cycle but i have room for it. my yields depend on the strain but i get bare minimum 2 oz per plant an i usually grow kush which isnt a heavy yielder, if you want a heavy yield look into sour diesel or blue dream both of those yielded like crazy for me. hope this helps!

i have a dr150 but use 120 cm (4 feet) and use 2 600 watt HIDS with Diamond reflectors, grow between 15 and 36 plants (15 hempy bucket style or 36 if i grow in soil, 6.5 litre square pots) Harvest around 1 KG a harvest...

I have a 360 cfm fan venting through the floor on a 400 hps and you can't even tell the light is on in there as long as your outside room temp is 70-75 so will your tent heat and air flow are the two most important factors in an indoor grow if you can't get the temp down may as well not even grow =) most of your online fans come with 6" intakes make sure you get flexible duct so you can raise and lower your light and suck the air through your carbon filter leave there to your light and from there to where ever your venting your heat I cut a 6" hole in my floor and vent my heat under the house

if you run co2 your plants can also take more heat and still thrive but i wouldnt go above 85 or so during the day.

Deerhunter why would you vent your scrubbed air???? i have my filter just scrubbing the air if you run it at the beginning then through your lights to your exhaust seems like a really inefficient way to scrub your air. especially if your venting all the cleaned air! if your filter is set up right it scrubs the whole area and the air your lights intake doesnt even have a smell. besides severely killing the flow of air through your hoods

damn two 600s in a grow tent? I bet you have some dense nuggets at harvest. And how you keep the temps with those lights? What size tent and nutes?

i run 2 600's as well i use a 440 cfm blower to run air through my magnum xxl 6" ducted hoods, as well as a 7800 btu ac unit. i do live in socal though so i need a bit more cooling because of our weather, right now its 104 outside but a perfect 80 degrees in my tent so nice im about to move in there myself!..lol
