Need advice about DRYING and FREEZING weed

I have just cropped my plants. Buds are quite small so would be difficult to hang them. Are they ok on these trays? would cake trays be better, let air flow underneath? they are right by the window so got good air flow. I am a newbie by the way!!

Also... I have frozen weed before and defrosted it no probs.

BUT my questions is... I am going away soon and have another plant i wont have time to dry out before i go. Is it safe to freeze the weed before it is dried and cured??

Thanks ;)

one you should completly manicure the bud before you dry it and 2 you could freeze it fresh but the water content may damage the plant during freezing. should have planned yoiur harvest a little better i guess but its some good looking bud

You can concider speed drying. Al B. Fuct has a DIY dryer that he says will dry your buds in 3 days. Just a tote and a few little computer fans and a heating element ( I think he uses a sodering iron to heat the air he blows into his dryer slightly, and it helps evapourate the water out of the buds as it passes by).
If you have the afternoon and some $ to get the things you need, you could have them dried by Wed.. according to Al. and I have read a bunch of his threads, really smart cat, so it may be worth a read. I am going to do something similar, but I can't offer real world experience as I'm not that far yet (still first grow going)...sorry, but I hope the input helps.

Dry away from the light. In semi darkness with a fan blowing over, not on it. When you go away leave it all in the drying area, that's better than freezing or fast drying. If you put it in jars and can't air it out every day it might mold.

yeah ide hang the big buds, and leave the rest in the trays to dry till your back, out of the sun, or any where really hot

if you gotta get it dry in a hurry(this will effect the tate and burn of the bud slightly),get some of those silica gel packet's that are used to keep electronic good s in their pacakaging dry,put said bud in a jar with a lot of them and they will dry the bud out rapidly, they remove moisture from anything,i do this sometimes when i harvest and needa quick smoke while my bud is curing!!!

Here's some decent photos at last... can't you just taste it! mmmmmmm

THESE ARE LOWRIDER AK47

The 3rd pic shows the slightly burnt weed. I left them too long, the leaves went very yellow and when i cropped the weed i noticed it was brown in places. still smokeable i hope.

I had a taster of the good stuff last night, :eyesmoke:

The first ones are feminised Lowriders - ak4 and ak47 #2. These are ideal for indoor cos they only grow to a foot or two.

The tall ladies are feminised orange bud. smell really smooth :) I got these online. Dutch Passion seed company. Masters at Work. 5 for about £30 i think.

I would try the quick dry also, though it will make your smoke nowhere near as smooth as it could be properly curing it.

Also I noticed in your pic the way you had to tie those tall plants over cut your potential yield to less than half what it could have been. Light can't penetrate to the second plant much at all.

If you find yourself with that situation again take the bulb out of the hood and hang the bare bulb vertically between the two plants.

Just saying...

A quick update from me, sorry ive been away so long... been busy smoking my girls!

The Lowryder AK47's were great! I had tried them before and wasnt dissapointed by my attempt (very strong, crystally, nice smoke, all good, would def recommend, easiest to grow too).

I wasnt expecting as good a smoke from the orange bud because id had trouble with them, the buds were small and thought i it smelt quite musty. But after it had dried it was BEAUTIFUL to smoke! even tho I thought they were a bit burnt everyone who tried it was very impressed, many a compliment on the fruitiness and strength of the effect. and it's so gorgeous, cos its so different to usual weed you get. Only thing ive noticed with the orange tho is a very 'fuzzy' dizzy, wierd head when i smoke too much, but its quite good cos then i know its bedtime ;) heh heh you have been warned!

Out of the two i'd grow lowryders again for convenience cos of their height and ease to grow.
But gotta be the Orange Bud thats the winner! worth the extra effort. BUT you need the space to grow them properly. They grow to a good 6ft. might have to try strawberry and lemon seeds next!

See you all again soon for the next grow! greengirrl :)
